I'm not sure how many more times I can read "from the first note of the album, I could tell that..." So it depends, were you able to tell anything from the first note on the album?

Unless it's some kind of drone, how can you tell much of anything from the first note of an album?

It's a weird sense I've picked up after so many years of critiquing albums. The first track, and the first notes, occasionally act as the opener to the feel/aura/atmosphere/vibe of the album. Usually, the prediction is right. Sure, little bits of previous knowledge can play a factor. Example, I knew it was a krautroock album that went for an ambient side, two genres I never got into.

It's more that it's a cliche so overused that it's cringeworthy.
