Is that the chick from The Gathering? I keep forgetting they exist but like them whenever I do remember.

Yeah it's her. I never really listened to the Gathering because I find them a bit boring, but I like her new band, Vuur. They're supposed to release a debut album later this year, which I'm looking forward to, much to my surprise.

Oh and Trout Mask Replica definitely sounds odd, and I def don't get most of it I'm sure, but it sounds too whimsical and unconcerned to ever sound unlistenable. It's a constant state of chill. This is most certainly an album I'd be willing to give more listens to to develop more of an opinion on. And I always dig an album with phat rhythms.

@ Batlord: Perhaps you need this half-hour analysis before you can really enjoy Frownland. ( Either that, or skip along to TMR's Moonlight On Vermont, which is instantly excellent.]

Interesting. While I think it's a very fun and dancey record, I think there's a lot of tension in the instrumentation.

And this has a straight up sample like I'd expect from an instrumental hip hop album. Pretty nifty and something I would never expect to hear from any goddamn album from 1969. And after all that other madness from the other part of the song it was particularly disorienting, which was nice.
