Check out some Takako Mamiya if you like 80s japanese pop.

Here's a sample track of Matu****a as well, bit more 'discoey/fusioney' but he's writes some nice riddims and harmony's and it would typically be classed as pop more that any other genre.

No thread as far as I'm aware, but here's a couple full albums that I like (roughly connected to the same style):

Love Trip - Takako Mamiya [ 間宮貴子 ] - 1982

Shambara (シャンバラ) - Shambara (1989)

And another song from Tomoko:

Tomoko Aran - I'm In Love [Warner Bros. Records] 1983

And a Judie Tzuke song that is British, not Japanese, but to me, it carries some of the same vibe that I like from city pop:

Judie Tzuke Heaven Can Wait
