Powerwashed my Chromebook and accidentally got rid of some of my precious hate rock. Most of it's backed up elsewhere but I want that **** handy for a moment's notice so I'm redownloading and kickin' out the jams as I go.

This album is ****ing amazing. This is like meditation music from a time and world outside of our own.

Isn't that what all meditation music is?

Ehhh. Depends on how you look at it, I guess. Most meditation music I've listened to evokes a place or culture.

This is just otherworldly. It arguably is supposed to be "americana" music. It definitely isn't. You should listen to the album. There's at least one song that is essentially a drone doom piece.

It's pretty firmly American primitivism, which is something of a Americana subgenre.

Great record though. Surprised that the genre hasn't been run into the ground by now but it just keeps giving.

You got anything better in the same genre from this year? I adore this record but I'm obviously not well versed on the genre.

Maurizio Abata - Standing Waters

And uh, I dropped a solid one last year but it does a lot of other stuff too.

Spurred on by a tiny disagreement with 66 (am I the only one who's not still calling him Batty), I'm listening to this Mariah Carey album on Youtube. Just skip the syrupy ballads and it's quite allright. I think her debut was probably her best album. Some of those high notes would make Rob Halford blush

Mariah Carey's self titled debut album...
