you only copy the code for the video which is often the only thing after the v=, but it'd seem like you made your way to a video already started before hand at some point, so YT remembers that on your account and starts it right where it was left off before, resulting in an extension t=(however many seconds in)s

also videos have an extension &list(etc) when played from a playlist
