No, but don't let my cousin Bert know you have... oh no wait. That bloody elf knight killed him, didn't he? I tell ya, no fun being turned to stone.

Heard this for the first time today and it made me almost believe Europe can very occasionally be better than just a bog-standard AOR band with one all right album, surviving on that hit single for decades...

And just to prove I don't hate ALL jazz...

Rosi and I use to go to Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club when we ran out of places to go, various reasons not for the Jazz although we danced Trad Jazz they called it and just had fun were ever we went, at our ages music and fun it was. Only ever had a little trouble the once and that was not anything to do with the club scene, so for 16/17 years old it was a safe environment back then. The Who was the most fantastic exciting band live ever back then for us and the London clubs were not the only ones that were able to book
them the Wimbledon Palais and maybe Streatham Ice Rink as well. Had just started dating to be husband so he gave us a lift to the W.Palais for us to see The Who again. I can remember him saying what a noise they make.....he loves them now though....
The first song made me cry actually and then played it three times to get over that, made it to the 2nd one and was completely in the wrong mood for it...not a jazz fan but sure it has a place, just not now for me...Thanks for sharing...

It's France.

Cop: "How much wine have you had, madamoiselle?"
Dianne: "Three glasses, monsieur le gendarme."
Cop: "Sacre bleu! Are you ashamed of being Francais? Don't you know it's illegal to drive without having consumed at least a bottle! Here! Drink this, it's a fine Chateau Noveux '68. And don't let me catch you anything less than completely drunk next time or I'll book you!"

I can tell you a story when I got pulled over by the Police one Boxing Day..for heavens sake day after Xmas and early morning, like 6.00am....making our way up to Newcastle from Beddington Surrey
.Bad Xmas my parents neither of whom would speak to me as we decided to go and visit our young Grand kids Jade and Jessica as our 1st Son was also up there visiting his kids...long story too sad but they had separated...Was a very strange day meeting the 'family' up north. MIL was lazing about and FIL was doing everything in the kitchen food wise..hey just moved on too fast with this...BACK on the road driving up there...was going fast empty roads everyone else would be in bed hung over maybe...I passed a junction and a Police Car entered the motorway in front of me and I choose to pull out and overtake..took a deep breath and without further a do got pulled over...
told to get out of the vehicle and get in the back of our car a cop either side od me and Husband told to keep his seat belt on...breathalysed and actually tried not to breath...and so had to do it again with instructions this time....well it was clear and I was ecstatic, as honestly had not drank much on Xmas Day as no celebrations took place that year..still was worried though...was told I was speeding and just got a verbal warning and on our way...Honestly in hindsight wish we had not bothered....
So FIL cooked the Boxing Day roast and it was a good tasty meal...leave out a lot of details as not really of interest so much to people here. one on the older brothers came in late for dinner, drunk and from then on all we got was mickey taking about southerners so we pretty much left early before any arguments would definitely begin...So the overall thing is a pact was made never did we ever drink any alcohol and drive to this day and driving earlier nothing the evening before.....the incident was around 1993/95
