They love The Smiths and Joy Division and a lot of other bands that werent really relevant to their early career a lot and a lot of their influences in the present day or from about 1995 onwards are probably much different or at least the ones you will actually hear in their music are. Back in the day it was The Clash, Guns 'n Roses, The Sex Pistols.

Go With The Flow - Queens Of The Stone Age

Finally getting around to this band, I'm definitely liking them. I was looking forward to this song, because I heard it on Rock Band. :D

Charles Mingus - Blues and Roots

It's 1959, this man comes out with three fucking brilliant albums: Mingus Ah Um, The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady, and this tight bitch. Loud, brilliant and bright, it's hard to find fault to this monstrosity, it's filled to the brim with amazing solos and beautiful voices (attn: this is sarcasm). And when it all comes to a climax good ol' Charley can't help but shout with ecstasy along with the crowd.

My dears, you won't find free jazz better than this:

note: i couldn't find the studio version on the 'tub so you'll excuse me if that sounds like shit. GET THE REAL THING.

Easily my favourite Aesop Rock song, one of the few where he actually rides the beat instead of stomping all over it.

Yeah, all that.

Terrific Band.
Terrific Song.

Best thing of his new album. Instruments are minimal, lyrics are simple, but I love the way he sings it.

Off of Cash's last album. I dig it, it's a pretty wild song. Haven't listened to the album in awhile.

Hell yes.
They have a good dynamic between them taking into consideration how different their styles are. I love how they give each other the right space for the right parts. It just works.

Freebase Dali 03-31-2009 12:35 AM

Satch, you dig Eric Turnbull any?

I like a lot of artists on Candyrat, but specifically I think Eric Turnbull and Craig D'Andrea's stuff fits my style the most, plus a majority of what Andy McKee does.
Don Ross is a genius on the acoustic, that just goes without saying.

I havent delved to deeply into the genre. Andy Mckee is who I'm mostly familiar with, but not for long.

Freebase Dali 03-31-2009 12:46 AM

Definitely check out Eric Turnbull. He doesn't have much on Youtube though, except "Low C" which everyone seems to want to cover. You can probably find more of his stuff on playlist.com
Craig D'Andrea has a ton of songs on Youtube you can check out.
Craig has some damn fantastic melodic logic. Not as technical as Don Ross, but Craig's stuff is pure beauty.

Dwindhym 04-01-2009 05:09 PM

I love Craig's work.

Disturbance - Joop Wolters

Bulldog 04-02-2009 03:07 PM

I swear by this song. It's the definition of a grower really - I thought it was rubbish when I first heard it, but now I can hardly stop listening to it.
