Part of a retro binge on my part, I came across this modest but well-crafted track:-
It's an example of what Ray Davies was so good at; affectionate cameos of everyday people. Back in 1966, when he wrote this song, there were no hippies outside of California, no punks and no goths. The disenchanted were there, but they were disguised in conventional clothes, and I think the lovelorn Little Miss Queen of Darkness was one such. (Also, enjoy the short drum break in the middle.)
