That means I have to dig out all my dodgy 80's pop rock?

You could. Or you could dig out all your dodgy 70's pop rock. Or 60's. Or 50's. Or even earlier. Or more recent. Whatever you think works best.

I'm excited about either option. I've been thinking about the teen romance one for a while but also just got back from a camping trip to the desert (a bunch of photos here) so I'm feeling pretty inspired for the desert one too.

We would have to have a proviso that (as far as we can tell) the song hasn't been used before in a film I reckon.

Sounds hard but we could try it.

That's cool. It makes it more of a challenge. So is this the one we're going with? I actually started working on this comp as soon as we started talking about it so I'm about 90% done with it already.

Okay, next set of comps...

Seven Songs To Make A Retro Teen Romance Movie To
Looks like Jackhammer and I went in two very different directions with this one, with him going back to the 80's and me going back to the 50's. Hope you like them!

Jackhammer's 80's Teen Romance Mix
From Jackhammer: Whilst I enjoy doing compilations and finding a couple of obscure bands/ tracks, this theme gave me a chance to just do a compilation that maybe I would have wanted to hear. I have purposely limited myself to music from the 80's with a commercial Pop/Rock feel. I was slightly hindered in the fact that as it's a teen film I had to ditch a couple of songs due to the lyrical nature but I hope that these remind anyone around at that time (not many ) of the music in mainstream films.

1. Icehouse—"Hey Little Girl"
2. Cutting Crew—"(I Just) Died In Your Arm's Tonight"
3. David Bowie—"Neighbourhood Threat"
4. Pat Benetar—"Invincible"
5. Berlin—"Heartstrings"
6. Dogs D'amour—"I Think it's Love Again"
7. The Primitives—"Secrets"

Janszoon's 50's Teen Romance Mix
From Janszoon: This is the story a heartbreaking bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks who found true love with a good girl, the college-bound daughter of the local pharmacist. But, as is always the case in these movies, her parents didn't approve and managed to drive the couple apart. Decades passed by and he grew into a sad and lonely middle aged man pumping gas at a BP in northern New Jersey, until one night when everything changed. He came home from a long day at work to see the message light on his answering machine blinking. When he pressed play he nearly had a heart attack—it was her voice that came out of the speaker.

1. Chuck Berry—"Brown Eyed Handsome Man"
2. Eddie Cochran—"Drive-In Show"
3. Gene Vincent—"The Rose Of Love"
4. Carl Perkins—"Movie Magg"
5. The Everly Brothers—"I Wonder If I Care As Much"
6. Bobby Vee—"Laurie"
7. Soul Coughing—"Janine"

This is weird, I posted a little review of Jackhammer's comp a couple days ago and now it's disappeared.

Anyway, what I said was I liked Jackhammer's mix and it really made feel like I was watching some forgotten movie from the 80s. I think I'm pretty knowledgeable about 80s pop so I was kind of surprised that "I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight" was the only song I knew but I was familiar with all or almost all of the bands.
