Cheesiest music event you've gone to and actually had fun! (singer, blues)

I saw Dar Williams several years ago with my then girlfriend. I don't know if any of you are familiar with Dar Williams but she plays the cheesy brand of "girl with a guitar" folk music that you can hear being performed in millions of coffee shops on any given evening. This type of music is definitely not my cup of espresso double latte but my girlfriend wanted to go so I went. Needless to say Dar Williams was boring as shit but Keb Mo opened for her and he was really good. And most importantly it was at this outdoor music venue in the north suburbs of Chicago called Ravinia that just has a great atmosphere (and an amazing sound system) no matter who you're listening to:

i went and saw the maine they were ok at first then more people came and they had the drowd jumpin around singing pretty tight

Does it count if it wasn't actually a bands concert

If so..... my college's 'Rock Night' would be counted as the cheesiest music event I went to
It was basically a 4 hour gig with a bunch of local bands and bands based in the school.

It was a good laugh, and it's always fun to see people trying to start mosh pits with various teachers

The highlight of one of these rock nights was one where this one guy playing on stage decided to do a stage dive.
Now this guy was never really well-liked.... the butt of many a joke back at college.... and if you've ever seen School of Rock, thinking of the beginning scene where Jack Black tries to do a stage dive and you'll pretty much the same image. Only when this guy did it he landed on a small girl and ripped her skirt.

I go to cheesy punk rock/ska shows in Allston all the time. I pretty much never listen to this kind of music outside the shows but I enjoy the scene... its worth some laughs and its always a good time. PBR, pits, leather, and punk rock girls. Good or bad music, it's a blast.

But on a less serious note, the lamest thing I've gone to was obviously my school dance. Not really sure if it counts, but it was quite funny moshing to Boys Like Girls with some of the preppiest kids I've ever met and getting more injuries than I have at a concert!

I knew I was going to offend somebody. In all fairness to them, it wasn't what I was into at the time (1990s), and had I had any sense and listened to them BEFORE I went, I would have been better prepared. I haven't listened to them since, so I should give them another try, I suppose. Nevertheless, they were responsible for a really good time!

@ Janszoon: Keb Mo opening for Dar Williams!!! It should have been the other way around. Keb Mo is AWESOME. I notice that, in the US at least, he's been playing in some "questionable" venues. For instance, I was in Tahoe for a conference and I saw his name on a marquis at a really cheesy casino. I don't get it--he's so good musically. He needs a better agent...

Pig out in the Park, Spokane WA. We heard this crazy zydeco band, which was definitely not my kind of music at the time. But we had great fun, the atmosphere was very laid back and everyone was dancing. And there was food. That's a plus.
