The song "Angles" by Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip really got me the first time I listened to it. Especially the 4th verse from the kid's perspective.
"My name’s Billy. I’ve been beaten since I was three, Mum died when I was born and Dad takes it out on me. He ain’t a bad man, He just gets drunk and feels alone, I tend to go for walks and hope he’s asleep when I get home. Don’t like to talk about it though. As I said, it ain’t his fault, it only happens when he’s drunk as a last resort. Tried to get him a gift, to show my support, but had no money and I stole and I guess I got caught. At times like that, I tend to switch of my mind, stare blankly into space and let what happens unwind. I seemed to anger this guard, he put his hands around my neck, he said it’s time for me to learn some manners and respect. It hurt. I’ve had worse before, it made me realise life is just a series of wars. I went straight home that day and locked the bathroom door. Took a blade to both wrists, they won’t hurt me no more." Really depressing song that has a very good meaning behind. |
Sorry to say it but I've heard all that before.
|
Oh, just so you know, boys - girls tend to point, laugh and reject you of fellatio when you cry. wink.

I'm a romantic, poetic, artsy, kind of man (read: sissy bitch) so I cry over music all the time!

I always get tearful whenever I hear "In the Ghetto" by Elvis.

I cant help but tear up when listening to Asleep by the Smiths, it's just so depressing and that's saying something for a Smiths song. Also Visions of Johanna by Bob Dylan not because its sad but because its so lyrically beautiful.

I don't think I have ever cried over JUST listening to a song... Add in back story/video, then maybe year. Prime example is something like 'Hurt' by Cash... Song doesn't do much for me but the video is so good it makes a little tear drop here and there... Same with songs that I connect to friends who are no longer with us.

Watching the MTV unplugged version of Where did you sleep last night by Nirvana made me tear up a little. Theres so much emotion there it seemed like Kurt knew it was near the end for him. It still gives me chills sometimes when I hear it.

Where Did You Sleep Last Night by Nirvana does give me the heeby jeebies but I don't cry over it.

Honestly, I'm anything but a macho guy. I'll blast All Girl Summer Fun Band with my windows down driving through traffic, no problem. I can't stand stuff like "bromance" and people that try to fit the term "guys guy."
But fuuuuck crying over some music. Seriously. Fuck crying at all, I just don't understand it. |

Way to ignore the first part of what I wrote and try and squash my post as being some rantings of a male not too far removed from the cave.
Crying is just dumb. I don't lose (much) respect for dudes that do it. I just don't do it myself. Now I'm gonna go crack a bud and get my bitch wife to give me a hummer, or else she gets another black eye. |

This decade's all about irony. |

I know that there are many other ways to express yourself other than crying, and I have not called your personal preference of expression 'dumb'. Regardless of how you express yourself, there are others out there who cry (me being one of them). As an individual that only felt comfortable with crying a couple of years ago, I can honestly say I see/have seen it from your perspective. On that note, make sure she (your bitch wife) doesn't forget to fondle the balls. Edit: My apologies for any "squashing". |
I've never really had an album bring me to tears just certain songs. The one the gets me everytime is 100 years by Five for Fighting. It used to be just an ordinary song to me but then my Grandfather passed away a few years ago and he actually died at the age of 100. My family made a slideshow and put it to that song and now everytime I hear that song I get all choked up.

I don't often cry at music, but it's not impossible.
Film has that effect on me more than music though. |
The closest I've come to crying at music is on Eclipse from Dark Side of the Moon. It's freakin powerful.

Off the top my head:
"You Never Know" of Revolutionary Vol. 2 (2004) by Immortal Technique "Pathetique Sonata" by Beethoven "Earth Heals Herself" of Population Override (2004) by Buckethead "Medicine Wheel" of Alaska (2005) by Between the Buried and Me |

If its a movie scene thats accompanied by a some perfectly sad or happy music, my eyes can water sometimes I admit. Never cried to music alone that I can remember though.
Usually when I hear something in my music that I really enjoy I actually scrunch my face up and inhale sharply I think. It probably makes me look really angry like I wanna fight someone. /shrug |

Ben by Michael Jackson makes me cry. Easily.
I had a pet rat. He died in 2001 so this made me think of him but I also cry because it makes me think of my cat that died two weeks ago. She was my best friend. I miss her so much. |
