I'm a man...and I've cried over music.

I'm positive that I'm not the only soul out there that hasn't been stopped in their tracks by an album, reply for which albums have brought you to tears or and album that actually changed you.

Last CD that I cried while listening to:

Transatlanticism by: Death Cab for Cutie

Antonio 03-22-2009 06:25 PM

i was playing with my band and the guitarist was playing something so sad that i could feel tears in my eyes

i haven't completely bawled over music, though

spark10036 03-22-2009 06:39 PM

I wouldn't say that I've ever cried while listening to music, but the first time I heard "The Dark Side of the Moon" I just felt so alone,I wanted to cry, but somehow I escaped the tears...and it was the album that changed my life forever...
probably the one song that almost get's me every time is the cover of "Thank U" by Steven Wilson

Dr_Rez 03-22-2009 06:51 PM

I cried when I heard the new Kanye West album. More out of pain though

crash_override 03-22-2009 07:21 PM

I have cried over music too.... sometimes it's the right song in the right moment.... and sometimes it's just the booze.

turbonacular 03-22-2009 08:22 PM

I've never full blown out cried from music. Hell I haven't cried in years. But I can't wait for the day it happens.

jessie 03-22-2009 10:39 PM

most definitely. given the right music, my mood could depend on it. funny/happy/sad.

Crying is for pussies. Real men listen to the new Metallica album then get drunk and fight people like I do.

Then you can go start a mosh pit at the mall.

The Unfan 03-23-2009 01:02 AM

Yes, absolutely.

jackhammer 03-23-2009 04:36 AM

Real men do cry. I did when listening to John Martyn when he died a few weeks back. When people mention crying they imagine bawling and snotty noses etc. Just a single tear down the cheek should tell you more about a man than a thousand books. It's not like it's everyday FFS.

Anyone fancies calling me a pussy to my face you are more than welcome :D

adidasss 03-23-2009 04:40 AM

Pussy. :D

I'm gay and I've never cried over music. At least not that I recall. I guess that makes all of you look even more like pussy bitches... Stereotypes...

jackhammer 03-23-2009 04:51 AM

No to my face son :D

I guess music means more to some than others on an emotional level? Does a song not honestly move you?

adidasss 03-23-2009 04:57 AM

A lot of things move me, just not to tears. But I've cried twice in my adult life so maybe there's something wrong with me...:\

jackhammer 03-23-2009 05:02 AM

Better out than in thats what I say :D I think people just wear their heart on their sleeve a little more. Has advantages and disadvantages I suppose. So films dont get you either?

SATCHMO 03-23-2009 05:04 AM

i cried at Monsters Inc.:D

Outside of deaths to loved ones, I haven't cried in probably 7 or 8 years. I just don't cry, and that's not to say that I don't find things sad, or moving. I am just never reduced to tears; it's just how I am.

dhayespw 03-23-2009 09:24 AM

the song Poles Apart by pink floyd gets me sometimes so I try to stay away from it. In fact I quit the floyd a couple of years back cold turkey. I still listen to them when they come on the radio though.

Janszoon 03-23-2009 09:31 AM

I don't think a song has ever made me cry but there are a handful that usually choke me up a bit when I hear them. "Return of the Prodigal Daughter" by Michelle Shocked is one. "Heart of the Appaloosa" by Fred Small is another.

I have also put my hand in someones mouth and pulled out their innards whilst listening to corpse grinding zombies from the eternal stench of hell if that balances me out a little.....?

Oh I can soooo relate. Happens to me every time I listen to Reign In Blood.

Blue 03-23-2009 03:04 PM

I definitely have, by numerous songs actually. Sometimes it's when I'm a tad stoned, and it's just so profound and moving that it just comes out.

I wouldn't have expected it to be Poles Apart, though I'm curious, why'd you cut the Floyd?

dhayespw 03-23-2009 03:56 PM

not really sure

Maybe just a dfferent time in my life. I smoked ALOT more at that point and then a few years ago we started playing more surf acoustic style and I emmersed myself in that genre (Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, etc.)

Now that we are pretty solid at playing that type o music, I listen to alot of brit-rock, alt rock, and actually some rap.

Wierd how taste in music changes over the years.

Pansy ass. :P

Warpaint 03-24-2009 02:37 PM

The best song to probably cry to is Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd

Mojo 03-24-2009 07:16 PM

Not anymore. I find it hard to imagine any music would have that kind of effect on me now but to say it never has would be a lie. In the past (during school years mostly) music has proven quite theraputic for me in a way that I could use it to deal with things going on around me. I could use it to make me feel an absolute million times worse to come through the other side feeling better, if that makes any sense.

In a way I have never understood that because not even my grandad's funeral got that reaction from me around the same time but music for some reason could.

I havent been able to do that, or maybe just havent had any need to do that for a long time now. Music doesnt seem to hit me that way anymore.

Roygbiv 03-24-2009 07:27 PM

I can't cry.
Correction: I don't cry. It's not my choice, but I don't. I've tried forcing myself to cry and my eyes get wet and my face gets red but nothing flows down.

I'm not meant for the movies.

Also, I heard that crying is for pussies, and this thread deals with crying so I thought there would be pussies... but there are non. Where are the pussies?
