In Utero-Nirvana 1993
changed my life forever. |
Probably Gun Club - Fire of Love. Before i 'took a chance' on that album i was pretty much just buying and listening to whatever was pressed upon me through the media. After it i began actively and seeking out music deviating away from mainstream media and my outlook has forever been changed by my discoveries over the last few years.

Michael Jackson's Dangerous gave me an outlook full stop. Before that I wasnt all that interested in music at all. Oasis started to steer me in the direction of more guitar driven music with both (Whats The Story) Morning and Definitely Maybe when I was about 11 or 12 years old.
I then have two main albums that completely started to stir my taste in music up and are probably responsible for 90% of what I listen to today and they are as follows: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi..._Metallica.jpg Without this I probably wouldnt have developed a love of heavy metal. I wouldnt have discovered the "real" Metallica albums and then opened my ears to many sub genres and more "extreme" forms of metal that makes up a lot of what I listen to now. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ey_-_Grace.jpg I think I can probably trace my desire to wanting to learn about as many different kinds of music as possible back to the purchase of this album. Without it I think my music taste would a hell of a lot narrower. |
I' m not one of the older members on here and I think I came into music pretty late (I mean, I was obsessed with the usual blink-182 songs and such of the day but nothing major), so my first important album is more current
Toxicity - System of a Down It's still a great album, eight or so years later |

Which is pretty badass for a gateway album i must say. |
That could be one of mine too really. It was my first punk album and got me into just fairly messy, dirty rock music in general. Do you have the boxset? If you dont I recommend it and mainly the 'Screen on the Green' live disc. Seriously, that performance is SO bad that it's insanely good
|
I don't no, i only have Spunk as to extras other than that which is pretty terrible considering their impact on me (i wouldn't be on MB blah blah..). If it's as bad as they're last gig doing 'No Fun' then it'll still be intriguing i suppose!
|
Well, I mean calling it "bad" all comes down to personal preference really but as you can imagine from The Pistols its just chaotic and very, very messy. The boxset is actually on Spotify, I just had a look.

I might get around to posting the Screen On The Green gig in my boots thread.
The Clash & The Buzzcocks played that night too , I have all 3 bands sets. |
