Default Great Fanmade Music Videos

Sorry for possibly stealing some thunder from the favourite music videos thread, but I wanted to make a thread for fanmade videos.

Sometimes fans will make videos for songs that don't have official videos or they'll add some kind of interesting interpretation to a song. When there is an official music video, the fanmade ones are usually not as good, so I'm hoping that will keep this thread from being a duplicate of the other.

I'll post the first. This is a fanmade MV for Megadeth's song "The Scorpion" from the album "The System Has Failed" from 2004. First of all, it's a kickass song. Secondly, I think the person who made this fanvideo did a good interpretation. I've seen people put very different meanings into it, but knowing just a little about Dave Mustaine's history, it always seemed to me like the "scorpion" in the song was actually narcotics.

1st refrain :

As I climb onto your back, I will promise not to sting
I will tell you what you want to hear and not mean anything
Then I treat you like a dog as I shoot my venom in
You pretend you didn't know that I am a scorpion

Wow, I just rediscovered this old thread that I made when I was a newb fresh off the banana boat. It wasn't very successful and so I forgot about it, but I'm gonna make an attempt at reviving it.

Bill Domonkos (whoever that is) made a video for The Residents' song "Act of Being Polite". I'm not sure if he made it for them, making this the official, or if he's just a fan. Whatever. I like his video because I think it does a good job of capturing some of that sinister absurdity that so often is The Residents.

and anything by dipsetmuthafucka, he just films himself dancing to choons around the world. Which would suck if it wasn't strangely hypnotic and he didn't have brilliant taste in music

Great video! It reminds me of something out of Luis Bunel's Un Chien Andalou or something equally as 'sinisterly absurd'. I wonder if this videomaker has other videos on Utube becasue I would be curious to see them. I am not that familiar with The Residents too much; but I know that they made some pretty before-its-time out there stuff in the 'experimental' genre; the only song I can remember is that Elvis/Otis Blackwell cover from that 'King and Eye' era.
Thanks for posting this video!
Great addition to this thread.

The Residents don't just do music, instead they're a troupe of artists who have been doing all kinds of art-stuff since the 60s, but their music is the most successful. Their discography contains an impressive amount of albums and what's even more impressive perhaps is that who they are is still a mystery, even after 40 years of existence.

Anyways, here's a video of Buckethead's song "Spokes on the Wheel of Torment". It's made by Syd & Eric (whoever they are) and is based upon Hieronymus Bosch's The Garden of Earthly Delights. I'm fairly certain this is a fan-vid and not something made by request from Mr. Buckethead or his label.

What a truly intense video! It reminds me of Dante's INFERNO eg the 7 layers of Hell ( themes in Bosch's works for sure ) Don't know if I'll be watching this one with my 5 year old! :-) Ha Ha - Thanks for posting; this is turning out to be a great thread.

Default Unofficial Music Videos

You know the people that make unofficial music videos sometimes make the best music videos, usually its a boring slideshow, this slideshow isn't too bad though (Tip: if you're doing an old-timey effect don't use the one this person used):

sometimes if you're lucky you can find ones people actually tried on (usually students having to do a movie project for their teachers):

Some Unofficial music videos are good enough that they actually become official, this is usually thru a contest of some sort but if the band or artist simply sees the video (and its really good) they might just make it official:

obviously enough this is a thread for posting any unofficial music video you want (don't piss of the mods though). if you are posting your own video be sure to tell us how you made it.
