Kings of Leon & USA (alternative, country, indie, album)

I have noticed there are a lot of americans on this website and was wondering if some of you could help me.
In the UK the latest Kings of Leon album has been in the top ten for around six months. They have a huge sold out arena tour, have headlined most major UK festivals(including Glastonbury) and sex on fire and use somebody are on every music channel and radio station 10 times a day!

Does anyone know why that popularity hasn't transferred to America, their home country? It just seems rather peculiar.
