Tal Wilkenfeld who at the tender age of 21 has already toured w/ more jazz & rock legends than most professional musicians do in a lifetime. Not to mention she's been Jeff Beck's exclusive bass player for a few years now. The Bass solo in this video shows a level of musical maturity that some professional musicians never reach.

If we're talking great lady bassists, Gail Ann Dorsey should be mentioned. She's Bowie's bassist (and she's bald boo boo

).
This is the only video I could find but I know she plays fretless on some of the songs from the same concert (just can't find the videos).

i don't find her attractive at all, and there's been people shitting about her all over the blogosphere. i think the main draw is that she's a woman under the age of twenty-five who happens to be a capable musician.

female bassists actually exist outside of the whole "alternative" thing that substandard musicians like Kim Deal and Kim Gordon managed to popularize?
