One cause for the annoyance, (and this is a guess) may be that there are other posters who might want to say something back to you. And if they finish a post right after you've finished five other ones and they never knew about it, that pretty much renders their argument pointless and they have to begin from scratch to try and argue with you. They have no idea when you'll stop double-posting.

This. And, it's much easier to make a counter argument when the posts are altogether in one post as opposed to multi quoting 5 or 6 posts.

If you quote even just a bit of a post for context--like I did here, then that solves that problem. It's not as if it takes a rocket scientist to figure that out.
