How much music do you listen to in an average day?

I go through patches with alot and then basically nothing, but i'd say on average probably a couple of hours a day.

The Unfan 06-01-2009 09:28 AM

At least 8 hours a day during the work week, usually more. On weekends a bit less, maybe 2-3ish.

Kirby 06-01-2009 09:30 AM

I listen to music the whole time I'm at my house, so it depends on if I go somewhere or not.

jacklovezhimself 06-01-2009 09:42 AM

I can get through 5-10 albums on a weekend, or 3-4 on a weekday. It poses a problem at school when I try to listen in class.

I'm the same way.
Except my daily average only relates to how long I'm in my car on any given day.

Bulldog 06-01-2009 10:00 AM

Probably about 3 hours average. For weeks like this when there's not really an awful lot going on I lose count quite quickly.

Comus 06-01-2009 10:05 AM

Not as much as I want to by a longshot :(

Gareth Brown 06-01-2009 10:34 AM

I'm not sure how anyone can listen to 8 hours a day of music and not get bored of it! Thats mental!

My job consists of typing. Sitting in a quiet room typing would drive me nuts.

Even so i think if i just listened to music all day i would get sick of it, i envy people that can listen to that much music and still enjoy it, i wish i could.

sidewinder 06-01-2009 11:20 AM

I listen pretty much all day at work. Meetings may interrupt that, but if I have no meetings, it's usually 5-8 albums a day. Sometimes I take breaks between albums if I'm busy and don't have time to pick the next one, or just need to give my ears a break.

Then I may occasionally play something at home in the evening if I'm not watching TV, but I tend to shuffle at home if I don't know how long I'll be listening. Weekends...maybe a couple albums a day, sometimes none at all. Again, lots of shuffling goes on when I'm unsure how long I'll be listening.

There is enough good music out there to take up an entire day. I personally don't see how anyone could get bored of it.

Anyway, I would say 3-5 hours a day. I listen to more on days when I am not working or out doing something. I've been falling asleep listening to music at night as well.

Every day I struggle to fit in all the albums I intend to listen to. I don't think bored is the right word, maybe tired and needing to give your ears a break, I can understand.

dac 06-01-2009 11:30 AM

3-5 hours probably depending on what's going on.

LoathsomePete 06-01-2009 12:00 PM

I have music going 24/7, however there are times when I"m not in the room to hear so I would say that I listen to about... 10 hours of music a day.

Antonio 06-01-2009 12:06 PM

as long as i'm on the computer, i'm listening to music.

and when i'm out i got my mp3 player on shuffle.

so i'm not sure really, but it's alot.

i'd suggest you put it on shuffle if you haven't already. gets less boring if you don't know what's next.

The Cat 06-01-2009 01:32 PM

Usually only a couple of hours a day..i used to have to drive 3 hours a day to work and back and loved that time for listening to music, but now im only a 10 minute walk from work so i really miss that time, and once your married with kids spare time can be pretty hard to find.:(

Comus 06-01-2009 01:58 PM

In my experience, if you can't stand listening to more than x amount of music a day you're clearly not listening to the right music. If I had the chance I would always be listening.

You speak the truth.

Zer0 06-01-2009 03:10 PM

It really depends. If im in work or college i might only squeeze in 2 hours when i get home. If i have a day off then i'll listen to music pretty much half the day!

CanwllCorfe 06-01-2009 03:26 PM

Ehh it all depends! I can listen to music all day.. literally. It all depends on my mood! I have quite a few genres: trance, black metal, electro house, rock, industrial, and other weird stuff. So it keeps me occupied. I'll be listening to some beautiful progressive trance song from Mango and then like.. Krypt or Gram will come on and it'll catch me off guard completely. It's fantastic

I agree. Music is something I want to listen to for x amount of time, it's not a burden.

FaSho 06-01-2009 03:34 PM

Whenever I'm not at school, it's pretty much always on. I'd say roughly 4 hours a day on weekdays. It's probaly more like 6 on weekends.

Schizotypic 06-01-2009 04:09 PM

About 6-8 hours a day if I have the time. If I go a day without music a fliiiip the fuck out.

Farfisa 06-01-2009 06:08 PM

Hmm... it depends really I usually listen to music 4-5 hours a day.

Erika! 06-01-2009 07:53 PM

Probably about an hour to three a day.

Raust 06-01-2009 08:17 PM

About 3-4 hours a day. I listen to my music in sections throughout the whole day it's hard to put a determined number on it.

Darkest Hour 06-02-2009 01:49 AM

i can't get away from music. I piss off my family all the time because my stupid metalcore and eminem cd's are always in the cd player or something. I even get yelled at because i listen to music really loud and mute the tv when i or others in the house want to watch it. It's pretty sad how addicted to it i am. I probably listen to music several hours a day at least, sometime more. I spend all my money on sound systems as well.

loving music doesn't necessarily mean being obnoxious about it you know

Midi 06-02-2009 02:12 AM

Why would you be playing metalcore in the first place when you could be listening to Technical Death Metal? :|

Edit: I listen to around 5 hours of music a day, but I usually go for listening to an album that's hard to get into, and listen to that for the rest of the day. Whereareas I'll listen to a catchier, upbeat single when I'm in an ecstatic mood.

indianaj 06-02-2009 02:47 AM

5 hours each day maybe, sometimes a bit more sometimes less, but ususally like that

zeppy111 06-02-2009 02:53 AM

4+ hours each day

Fruitonica 06-02-2009 03:23 AM

When I'm at home easily 8 hours or more.

Seltzer 06-02-2009 05:04 AM

Nowhere near as much music as I'd like - and even then, it's mostly music I've already heard since I'm generally studying or doing assignments. So when I finally do get a break, I go nuts and check out heaps of new music.

jackhammer 06-02-2009 05:42 AM

At least 8 hours a day, even if i'm in employment-any opportunity I get will be me clicking on the MP3. I have music on when I'm reading. The only time i don't listen to music is in the bath. I just read for an hour!

Food shopping is the best as I have the headphones on and in a world of my own.

AshleighJane 06-02-2009 05:53 AM

Alll the time I am awake...it is rather weird so like 12 hours or so...
80's "metal" ♥

crash_override 06-02-2009 09:07 AM

Background music... maybe 6-10 hours.

Actual conscious listening... probably 3 hours at best.

Unrelenting 06-02-2009 10:17 AM

between 1 and 6 hours depending on the day

NSW 06-02-2009 12:02 PM

At least 2-3 hours a day, between the car and sitting at my computer at home. I listen at work too, but it's usually something ambient or instrumental that kind of washes into the background.

imdesigner 06-02-2009 12:18 PM

I'll listen to about 6 or 7 albums on a weekday. Weekends it's generally less, maybe about 5 or so. I've put a lot of hours on my iPod.
