Comus, just stop. I hope you're trolling this thread right now, otherwise it's pretty sad.

That's fine but it makes opinions about who does or doesn't push boundaries completely irrelevant because there's no frame of reference, no sense of what boundaries existed in the place and time a work was created and as a result no way of discerning if they were pushed or not. Which makes me wonder why you'd even bother bringing up the subject of pushing boundaries in the first place, since the very concept is entirely dependent on context.

I go by release/record year for context. Also boobs brought up pushing boundaries, I've just been arguing randomly about it since.

I'd also like to state that fans of Billy Joel are by law, denied of any formal right to rant about sh*tty pop.

Oh so basically exactly what I was talking about. So why mention all the stuff about how you don't go by scenes?

Because then compared to Oasis Radiohead would be the best band ever.

Also Billy Joel has all the hallmarks of a prog artist:
Classical influences... check!
Occasional Sci-Fi themes... check!
Usage of loose concepts running through albums... check!
Long songs... check!
Occasional virtouso musicianship... check!

I admit this is funny.

Well, everything's relative. That's my whole point.

Comus 06-07-2009 11:14 PM

I thought that was my whole point :(
