Canwllcorfe - I love his taste in music, especially the Electronic music. Not so much the Black Metal, but his electronic stuff is very much my thing. Not any of the crap you'd ordinarily hear at a club... thinking man's music.

I still need to grab some albums from him. Where you at, man?

By the way, like me he seems a nut for low budget horror flicks
I appreciate the comment but to tell you the truth I barely listened to Metal from the early 90's for a good number of years and if you check my Last.FM and RYM, you will see that Metal only takes up about a quarter of what I listen to and very few Metal bands pass my way that are original enough to merit a second listen.

Because I don't really concentrate my listening to one particular genre anymore, there are a ton of bands that I can't possibly comment on because I don't know enough about them, so when I post about a band I want to be as knowledgeable about them as I can be before spewing my opinions.

This is why I only post in the Metal forum on a irregular basis. What knowledge I do have is usually about older bands that many are into or know well enough for me to not add anything of huge value.

I do like my Horror movies though but again very few Horror films merit me posting about these days because there is so much banality out there with Hollywood remaking the very films that were anathema to them 10 - 20 years ago. Just proves my point that those at the top wouldn't know a good film or album if it crapped gold in their lap even if just for a week.

Heyy! Thanks man! I've been around, just not posting a hell of a lot. Pretty busy with school stuff. Well, that, and I've been having a hell of a time finding quality material.

I don't think there's ever been a time where I feel as musically out-of-touch with MusicBanter as I do now. It seems everyone who's a fan of punk/hardcore (my favourite kind of music) has either left the forum or doesn't care for it past a certain decade. I'm finding that the only musical discussions I have anymore are about post-rock bands, OFWGKTA, or the odd new release that comes out.

The hardcore & emo forum is nearly dead, and the only activity the punk forum sees is the odd post every few days in a thread concerning some band from the 70's or 80's, or that Lydia Lunch character. I wish the old punk fans would come back or some new ones would join in.

i think my taste is most similar to Pedestrian's, in that we both have equally diverse tastes, except she doesn't like metal

as i've said earlier, my tastes in metal is similar to Unknown Soldier, though he hates some of the mainstream bands I listen to and i hate some of his AOR stuff, and perhaps also to The Batlord's, though I don't really listen to that much thrash/death metal

To be honest, that's how I always feel here. There's certainly a few people who I have a decent amount of overlap with, but there's not a particular forum where I've ever felt at home.

I feel the same way. But I listen to a wide range of stuff, so I have maybe a couple of things in common with people, but that's it. I am very passionate about classical music, but there doesn't seem to be too many other people here who can talk about it to the Nth degree like I can. Maybe Erica and a couple of others, but that's it.

I'm one of the guilty characters of whom you speak, but my taste isn't based on a decade necessarily. I'd love to talk about punk/hardcore more too but you definitely have a different general taste for the stuff than I do, regardless of when it was made. With you, it's kind of a "if you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything" thing for me.

I consider your journal(s) to be forums themselves and I like pretty much all of the music you talk about there. I think I have an Editor's Pick aversion. I like to see my posts show up immediately. I should get over that.

I don't have nearly your level of academic knowledge of it but classical music is ingrained in my soul. I should try to talk more in depth over there.

Two more I should mention are Urban and Canwllcorfe. The former has great taste in obscure NWOBHM and I also have a lot in common with him regarding Brit 90s stuff. C-Corfe has good taste in general and he's often into stuff that became available, like, just yesterday.

Anyway, all mentioned here should know that I take it all in even though I rarely respond.
