No way! My parents listen to all the good 60s, 70s and 80s stuff. I grew up listening to bands ranging from the Beatles to REM, which is the best type of music by far. Of course I like popular bands today like Coldplay, Franz Ferdinand, the Killers and more, but I don't think it's uncool AT ALL to like your parent's music.

My mom and I are always sharing music with each other and introucing one another to new bands. She'll come home and be like "I heard a song you're gonna love," and I make playlists for her to listen to on her way to and from work. It's great.

My mom thinks I'm becoming closed-minded to music because I don't like Nickelback- one of her favorite bands.
Hehe.

I don't think my parents have terrible taste.

My dad got me into Golden Earring, Midnight Oil, among others.

My mom listens to a lot of Enya, Sarah Mclachlan and the like. But she also likes Santana so points there

My family isn't really that big on music, so my taste basically comes from what I've discovered for myself by either just keeping an ear to the ground or listening to my brother's music. I probably did get my liking for doo-wop and 50s rock 'n' roll from my parents though.

Where is your brother man? I miss his cyber face.

As far as my parents are concerned, my mum gets just about all her music from me, but she still has a penchant for what she's listened to her entire life, but she's really becoming more open to new things, especially hip hop which is nice. My dad... well when we're talking he still listens to the same 10 CD's he did last decade. The only new thing he's gotten into from me was "Horse Soldier Horse Soldier!" by Corb Lund & the Hurtin' Albertans

Still alive and kicking, so he'll be back. Could be days, could be weeks, could be months, could be when you least expect it :D

I actually like Blondie's Parallel Lines album. My dad bought it on cassette for my mum when they started going out and she still has it.

on the other hand my mother's record collection consists of Bette Midler and ELP albums. :shudder:

Sounds like they have better taste than you do actually. ;)
