The only band out of those that I know is Blue Oyster Cult and I don't like them very much.
David Bazan- Please Baby, Please Make Me- Lets Go Off A Tangent Fire On Fire- Assanine Race Wow, Owls!- 1989: The Best Four Years Of My Life The Promise Ring- A Broken Tenor The Apples In Stereo- The Code They Might Be Giants- I Can't Hide From My Mind Mac Lethal- Backward Golden Triangle- Death To Fame Andrew Jackson Jihad- Bells & Whistles |
I have to admit I haven't heard of any of those artists.
The Temptations - I Can't Get Next To You Otis Redding & Carla Thomas - Lovey Dovey Frank Zappa - He Used To Cut The Grass Booker T. & The MG's - Terrible Thing The Doors - Horse Latitudes The Dead Weather - 60 Feet Tall Jarle Bernhoft - Fly Away Eagles - Desperado Sam Cooke - Lost And Lookin' Black Sabbath - Paranoid |
I have to say that looks a pretty solid and enjoyable list (Y) Particularly the Sabbath and Doors tunes.
Ash - On a Wave Joy Division - Shadowplay The Stone Roses - Made of Stone Guru Josh Project - Infinity.. Doves - Kingdom of Rust White Lies - To Lose my Life The Strokes - Reptilia Blink-182 - Adam's Song Evanescence - My Immortal The XX - Islands |
1990!! Time for the Guru (ah ah ooh ah)
Rubbish when it came out, unspeakable now. The Joy Division and Roses numbers are classics, among the best work of those groups. Wonderful XX track. Find the singing slightly affected in a Kate Nash way but love the sparse instrumentation. The Strokes and Doves tunes arent my favourites from those bands though I am a big fan of both. White Lies leave me cold but there are worse bands out there. Like Blink 182 and Evanescence - for shame my boy, for shame. All in all a pretty good selection though - 7/10 Calexico - The Book And The Canal Cocteau Twins - From The Flagstones The Martian - Sex In Zero Gravity The Cramps - Taboo Swans - Trust Me Dr Dooom - Do Not Disturb The Beat - Noise In This World Morrisey - November Spawned A Monster The Creatures - Flesh Dizzy Gillespie & His Orchestra - Ool - Ya - Koo |
Good shuffle. I like Calexico, Morissey and Dizzy Gillespie in particular.
Little Richard- Send Me Some Lovin' The Fall- What About Us? Them Crooked Vultures- Dead End Friends Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart- Iii. Sequenz - Dies Irae Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds- Henry Lee Joan Jett & The Blackhearts- Crimson And Clover Bill Haley & The Comets- R-O-C-K Sufjan Stevens- Vito's Ordination Song John Lennon- Working Class Hero Rage Against The Machine- Without A Face |
My favorite song of yours would probably be Working Class Hero, that's one of my favorites of Lennon. I'm also impressed by the Little Richard, few people actually listen to him considering how instrumental he was in the development of pop music. I like Nick Cave too but haven't gotten around to downloading/acquiring more of his stuff.
Seen Your Video - The Replacements Sessao Das 10 - Raul Seixas Martha - Tom Waits What She Wants - Felix da Housecat Plywood Superman - Jim White Superheroes - Daft Punk She Came and She Touched Me - Townes van Zandt Stir it Up - Bob Marley and the Wailers She Said She Said - The Beatles Dadra - Ravi Shankar |
I love me some Daft Punk and Bob Marley, don't really know any of the others besides The Beatles.
The Apex Theory - Drown Ink Hieroglyphics - Classic Live - The Dam at Otter Creek Ganja Beats - Herb Is Good DJ Krush - Zen Approach Stone Temple Pilots - Trippin On A Hole In A Paper Heart Seal - Killer Restoring Poetry In Music - Note To Rise Wu-Tang Clan - Hollow Bones Nujabes - Psychological Counterpoint |
I see a lot of rap and beats/electro, which I'm cool with but I don't listen to a lot of the artists. Also I don't really like Live, or Stone Temple Pilots.
Margot & the Nuclear So and So's- Love Song For A Schuba's Bartender The Cliks- Cry Me A River The National- England Madeline Ava- Two Headed Boy Hop Along- A Drummer's Arm The Microphones- The Moon The Smiths- Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now Devendra Banhart- There Was Sun We Were Pirates- Little Monsters Madeline- Lit Elephants Wow that's a great shuffle, how can I pick a favorite? |
The only one of those I'm familiar with is The Smiths and I don't like them a whole lot.
Hell Within - Interlude (God Grant Me Vengeance) Triptykon - The Prolonging (Eparistera Daimones) Children Of Bodom - In Your Face (Are You Dead Yet?) Devin Towsend - The Death Of Music (Ocean Machine: Biomech) Mors Principium Est - The Animal Within (Liberation = Termination) Paradise Lost - Gothic (Gothic) Mondo Generator - Unless I Can Kill (Cocaine Rodeo) Devin Townsend - Vampolka (Synchestra) Stone Sour - Sillyworld (Come What(ever) May) Sarah Jezebel Deva - The Devil's Opera (A Sign Of Sublime) |
Children of Bodom have their moments, Stone Sour's okay and the video there is certainly interesting (even if I'm not in the mood for that sort of thing at the moment). Has a Danny Elfman quality to it.
Beirut - My Night With the Prostitute from Marseille The Apples in Stereo - Skyway Collections of Colonies of Bees - Fun (#8) Cast Recordings: "Wicked" OBC - For Good (Perf: Idina Menzel, Kristin Chenoweth) John Mayall - Ramblin' on My Mind UB40 - Reefer Madness ATB - I Don't Wanna Stop The Who - Hall of the Mountain King Cradle of Filth - Tiffauges AC/DC - Problem Child |
I've never really liked Cradle of Filth but I like that Beirut song. The rest I'm not that familiar with to say anything.
Her Name is Calla - Long Grass Arcade Fire - Wake Up The Antlers - Sylvia Arcade Fire - Sprawl (Flatland) La Dispute - Fall Down, Never Get Up Again Tangled Hair - Cardpoard Hilltop Rökkurró - Hugurinn Flögrar Envy - Light and Solitude As Cities Burn - New Sun Pixies - Gigantic |

Beastie Boys's Girls ...damn, I used to listen to that album a lot. No sleep till Brooklyn was my favourite track. The Police's Spirits in the Material World - ah, memories! I never really bothered with Dire Straits. REM - sorry ... I believe I'm the only person in the universe who really doesnt get what the fuss is about them. I'll go and hide, don't mind me. All the other names are on my "need to get hold of if I can" list.... Now for my list - I have to say, my ipod has only a small, not entirely representative, selection of my bigger music collection on it, and I strongly suspect the shuffle function is not as random as it could be. Sorry, can't resist commenting on what came up, or is that against the rules? 1. Nine Ninch Nails - Piggy (Pretty good) 2. Cop Shoot Cop - Got No Soul ("Will you people please stop jumping under my train" - the lyrics are pure gold! ) 3. Nine Inch Nail - Sanctified (That bass!) 4. Firewater - 7th Avenue Static (Really pretty good) 5. Cop Shoot Cop - System Test (Eeeek - that's from some bootleg, and pretty much unlistenable, much as I love these guys) 6. Cop Shoot Cop - Triumphal Theme (Just...um, that one) 7. Echo and the Bunnymen - No Dark Things (Cardiac arrest of a song) 8. Certain General - Will you (Can you say epic?) 9. Pet Shop Boys - Opportunities (So glad this came up - classic pop at its best) 10. BRMC - Love Burns (Not the best song on the album this is from, but on the other hand, there isn't a single bad song on that album) |

I'm not shuffling last now but I'll post the last 10 tracks I shuffled at home last night: Stevie Wonder – Higher Ground (excellent classic song) Tages – Mohair Sam (nice psych pop from this Swedish band no one seems to know) Foscil – House Party (great Seattle-based instrumental hip-hop ensemble) The Smoke – You Can't Catch Me (another nice 60s psych pop track) The Black Heart Procession – Square Heart (one of my favorites from them) KMD – F*@# Wit' Ya Head (feat. CMOB and Hard 2 Obtain) (some hip-hop I recently picked up, early MF DOOM project) Dilute – Queer Dork Song (sort of mathy and post-hardcore indie rock) Blockhead – Do the Tron (great instrumental hip-hop track) Omar A. Rodriguez-Lopez – Melting Chariots (pretty decent jam from ATDI/Mars Volta guitarist) Skinny Puppy – Politikil (meh - I love SP but the material from their 2 reunion albums is quite sub-par) |

what can you say about somebody who has underground hip-hop mixed with great indie rock and then ends it with ****ing SKINNY PUPPY....perfect maybe? i love the idea of commenting on your own tracks :) Kraftwerk - Music Non Stop[Moscow] (9+ minutes of the best electronic music ever produced) Neither/Neither World - Our Devil's Cave (dark brooding and Wendy's voice is exactly how i imagine Satan to sound like) The Jesus Lizard - Monkey Trick[live] (this is one of many Jesus Lizard songs where David Wm. Sims's bass playing out shines the incredible "vocals" by David Yow) Magik Markers - The Lighter Side Of...Hippies (one of my new favorite bands....its just wonderful like a rock in a cop's face) The Angels Of Light - The Man We Left Behind (warm like a heated blanket at the hospital) God Bullies - Follow The Leader ("oh my children there is no hope, lt's go to heaven in a big row boat"...this band is why i LOVE noise) Wu-Tang Clan - Wu-Tang 7th Chamber (first the little skit is hilarious....what can i say this album is ****ing gold) Luftwaffe - Apostate De Veritas (....yeah this is very much the soundtrack of the end of the world) Leonard Cohen - Chelsea Hotel (this is from the live album released this year....man his voice still chills me to the bone) My Bloody Valentine - You Made Me realise (this is the stuff i just love by MBV....a little less droney and little more rock...amazing jagged guitar work) |

Spoon- Well Alright (A nice upbeat offering from them, from the very solid Dark Was The Night compilation) Bob Dylan- Isis (His lyrics are some of the best I've ever heard, no doubt about it) CunninLynguists- Dance For Me (Despite the terrible band name, they are really great, wonderful sample in the beginning of this song too) Wolf Parade- Palm Road (Off their newest album, I tend to prefer Krug's songs over Boeckner's but he's still pretty aweseome) Mitch Hedberg- Tomatoes (This guy is hilarious) Balkan Beat Box- Baharim (Worldish music that I have to be in the mood for to enjoy) The Fratellis- Creeping Up The Backstairs (Acoustic) (I've been listening to them a lot more lately, surprising how good they are) Stay Ahead Of The Weather- Sorority Social Suicide (I just got this ep about a week ago and have only listened to it once, but from the one listen it's pretty rad) Les Savy Fav- Appetites (Not as experimental as their other stuff, but it's still pretty cool punk nonetheless) Blackbird Raum- Coal (These guys are awesome, they play a very rowdy and exciting brand of folk-punk) |
^ I like both Krugs and Boeckners songs but I think Boeckners Handsome Furs songs are sometimes better than his Wolf Parade ones.

I enjoyed them all. Threw in a bonus track because I haven't shut it off yet. |
Can't go wrong with classic Misfits. Pinback, Tortoise, Danzig, and Pink Floyd are sweet even I not a very avid listening of them (though Pink Floyd's get more ear time).
Aphex Twin - Fingerbib Sleater-Kinney - The Fox Aarktica - Summer Tabla Dub Bikini Machine - Climax Siren On - Violent Poetry Don Caballero - The Peter Criss Jazz Ladytron - True Mathematics The Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition Say Anything - It's a Metaphor Fool Henry Rollins - Late Night Phone Blues |
I've recently gotten into Aphex Twin and Don Cab courtesy of this forum, great stuff. That Temper Trap track is so overplayed and overpraised though, I feel like there were several tracks on the same album that were stronger. Tried to get into Say Anything... couldn't. The rest I'm unfamiliar with.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Road Trippin' Taizo Takemoto - Brinstar Depths (From Smashing....Live!, the live Super Smash Bros album) Rage Against the Machine - Guerrilla Radio (effin love this track) Melvins - Copache A Tribe Called Quest - Buggin' Out (effin love this track too. Oh, Dave Mirra 2.) I like Shearwater and Pavement but I've never really liked The Clash.
I was actually checking out Loney Dears Citadel band Lp the other day in my local record shop. It caught my attention since it has the bands name written with sign language alphabet and I'm studying to become a sign language interpreter. I had never listened to the guy before, but I had to check him out since the album cover was so cool. I now like him, but I haven't listened to Dear John yet. I assume that track is good sice I've liked pretty much all his other songs that I've heard. We All Inherit the Moon - Part V Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Motherfucker=Redeemer Spawn from Deceit - De-Tribute The Knife - Behind the Bushes Bohren & der Club of Gore - Crimson Ways Pg.lost - Maquina Suis La Lune - With Wings of Feathers and Glue Refused - Liberation Frequence Red Sparowes - Alone and Unaware...(I'm too lazy to write the whole song name) Jose González - Save Your Day |

The Man- The Sun Grand Archives- Siren Echo Valley (Part 2) M83- Dark Moves of Love Jack Peñate- We Will Be Here The Decemberists- The Mariner's Revenge Song Justin Townes Earle- What I Mean To You I hate when it shuffles two songs from the same album. |
I like David Bowie, but the rest I either don't like or haven't really listened to.
The Kinks- A Gallon of Gas Al Green- I'm Still In Love With You Samuel L. Jackson- Ezekiel 25:17 [Dialogue] Frank Zappa- Hungry Freaks, Daddy Cracker- Dr. Bernice Radiohead- You Never Wash Up After Yourself The Rolling Stones- Let It Loose Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros- Burnin' Streets Modest Mouse- Alone Down There Cesaria Evora- Partida (Departure) edit: whoops. Decemberists are good, but I'm not really familiar with the rest. Libertines are decent I guess. |
That Rolling Stones track is great, and Modest Mouse have their moments, though I'm not familiar with "Alone Down There". I'm a little curious as to why you have Samuel L. Jackson dialogue on your mp3 player or w/e you're using.
The Devin Townsend Project - Gato (Ki) Powerman 5000 - Super Villian (Somewhere On The Other Side Of Nowhere) Strapping Young Lad - Oh My ****ing God (The Chaos Years) Slayer - Catatonic (Christ Illusion) Lamb Of God - Hourglass (Ashes Of The Wake) Bloodbath - Trail Of Insects (Resurrection Through Carnage) Korn - Embrace (Untouchables) Dimmu Borgir - The Maelstrom Mephisto (Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia) Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (Greatest Hits) Powerman 5000 - Blast Off To Nowhere (Tonight The Stars Revolt!) |
Sabbath I dig, and Slayer if I'm in the right frame of mind. And admittedly, I'll pit on the latter PM5K album there if I'm in a nostalgic sort of mood. Overall, not my bag, though.
Tom Waits - Georgia Lee The Shins - Weird Divide Faun Fables - Old and Light Jandek - The Places You Left Me: Part Six Pacific! - Hot Lips Pantha Du Prince - Behind the Stars Dolorean - Holding On Two Dollar Guitar - Blue Coat and Yellow Vest The Sex Pistols - Holidays in the Sun Scarnella - A Millennium Fever Ballad |
I like the Shins and Tom Waits, and I've always been curious about Jandek. I don't care for the Sex Pistols and the rest I don't know.

A good mix in general. While I'm not overly familiar with anything there, there isn't anything I don't like. Gomez especially is good.
The Flaming Lips- A Machine In India The Jimi Hendrix Experience- Purple Haze CAKE- It's Coming Down Broken Social Scene- It's All Gonna Break Eminem- 'Till I Collapse Buddy Holly- Rock Around With Ollie Vee Tool- Wings For Marie (Pt. 1) The Pretenders- Boots of Chinese Plastic The Beatles- Martha My Dear Buddy Holly- Brown-Eyed Handsome Man My shuffles are always so boring. |
The only ones that really do it for me on there are Purple Haze and Wings For Marie (10,000 Days is one of my favorite Tool albums).
The Agonist - Swan Lake (A Capella) (Lullabies For The Dormant Mind) Droid - Salt The Graves (S/T) White Zombie - Blur The Technicolor (Astro Creep: 2000) Slayer - Cult (Christ Illusion) Slayer - Flesh Storm (Christ Illusion) Shining - The Madness And The Damage Done, Pt. 1 (Blackjazz) Korn - Bottled Up Inside (Untouchables) Hate Times Nine - Sever The Ties (Shadows) Slayer - Necrophobic (Reign In Blood) Blue Oyster Cult - This Ain't The Summer Of Love (Best Of...) Decent shuffle; lots of Slayer, a badass Shining song, and one of my favorite BOC songs. + a reminder that I really need to get some new tunes on my iPod. |
