Music Banter Song Contest
 

Starting at 11:06:00 PM Saturday August 29th 2009 there will be a contest held for the best musicbanter song created by a member. Time extended a few days!


PS TO EVERYONE: Last day will be September 13!!! So if your making a new one or first one, have it picked out and posted/pmed to me by then.

If you can put them on youtube, even if theres no video so that in the voting thread everyone can listen easily, and so i dont have to upload 10 songs myself.

Now there wont really be any rules to this except the song must be at least 1:00 minute in length. (not file length but actual song length) It must relate to musicbanter in some way that the listener can notice. (preferably lyrics)

Also nothing discrediting or putting down musicbanter. I have made a quick 15 second midi example of something not to do... (so that mods do not shut the thread down for flaming)

If I'm not being a lazy prick this week I'll get a song in for ya.

This sounds like a really cool idea, are lyrics going to be involved or is it purely instrumental? That said what's the judging criteria going to be for instrumentals and songs?

I fixed it a tad. And I really dont want to set any rules because the more eclectic the entries are the better. They will e judged simply in a poll by members of MB.

As said above if its instrumental it should in some way remind the listener of Musicbanter. If not DISQUALIFIED!!!

lol no problem. My theory is the less rules the more people will hopefully enter. Considering this is a music forum and nearly everyone hear plays an instrument id think they would take advantage of free feedback. I know i will.

Well I dont know if this will actually happen. As usual it seems members on this site (bar some) dont actually do anything other than just talk about music :(

I only just came across this thread. It's a fun idea and I want to humiliate myself by writing a Music Banter song! I will most likely submit via video format. So is it still on?

EDIT: Okay so I just wrote a kickass song about Musicbanter, (it involves most of you :D), I'm getting on a plane tomorrow but I'll record and submit my humiliation once I've arrived at my friends's house in NZ, if people are still interested in this whole thing ha.

Noticed this thread a couple of hours ago so I quickly whipped up a little tune :D

I thought I'd try and use this vocoder program to make a kind of old-school cheesy and vulgar sounding robot song, but it didn't work so well. I was making up the lyrics on the spot as I was recording and it wasn't really timed very well, so it's near impossible to make out the words. For that reason, I'm including the lyrics here :

While surfing on the forum
I came across a thread
It was writ by RezZ
And this is what it said

We're gonna have a contest
Everyone come along
So I got out my vocoder
And made this robot song

I even managed to upload it to youtube!



It was of course meant to be funny (dumb) :laughing: I think it is.

I'm actually shocked that people enjoyed it; I whipped it up in a matter of about 10 minutes, was pretty much just being silly and have no knowledge on recording things... haha.

While Lateralus said she only took 10 minutes to make her song (very impressive), it took me, literally, 10 hours! Part of that time was spent trying to figure out how to use a new audio interface I purchased (Tascam US-1641), which I managed to get to work. This is the first song I've recorded with a new setup...I even made one of those pop-guard things with a darning hoop and an old nylon sock! I hope you all enjoy the song. If I had time to do it over, I'd speed the whole thing up and redo the tracks to mesh them better, but non-music life calls (grrrr!). I've posted the lyrics below.
