That's quite a fair list i think. Obviously most of the albums are a bit obvious but thats because more people are going to own them. I'll never complain with 2 Pixies albums in the top 5! No Smiths though!

I have 49 of them funnily enough

gunnels 09-18-2009 06:46 PM

Queen is Dead is 64 ;)

storymilo 09-18-2009 06:50 PM

Wow that's actually not bad at all. Some of the choices are surprising but good, and some artists seem to be favored more heavily than I would think, but overall not bad.

jackhammer 09-18-2009 06:52 PM

I have 47. A much more accurate list of the the more discerning listener even though a few are not in the order I would put them at.

19/24/35 are missing from my collection but I don't rate Pet Sounds at all anyhow!

BTown 09-18-2009 09:05 PM

I didn't have any until #30. I'm surprised Wu-Tang clan is on here though, I don't see them getting talked about much.

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 09-18-2009 09:09 PM

i have 1

storymilo 09-18-2009 09:17 PM

I have 29 out of the 50. Some one CD, some on digital, some on vinyl

I should have said 'had' rather than 'have' and I did used to own RATM even if it just was for a couple of days. And that was the only Yes album I owned for ages until I did that Topographic Oceans thing in my journal.

right-track 09-19-2009 04:35 AM

I'm going for a brace of Radiohead albums...

Urban Hat€monger ? 09-19-2009 04:37 AM

It's actually The Velvet Underground & Nico & Low End Theory

If we're playing by those rules then i've had them all!

MoMusic 09-19-2009 04:59 AM

I have all of the Beatles and a few others.

Grotesque Head 09-19-2009 05:26 AM

I've got about 28 - between me counting the ones I have and posting this I've forgotten the exact amount, but it was just below 30.

FaSho 09-19-2009 05:58 AM

I've tried to get RYM about 3 times, but end up giving when adding my library or whatever. Might try again next time I have some time on my hands(Today)

Anyway, list is okay. I have only 26 though :(

NumberNineDream 09-19-2009 09:50 AM

I only have 20 of them, but the others are on my "to have" list [all but the Pixies' albums]. Never heard anything from the Pixies, that was an eye-opener.

Antonio 09-19-2009 10:23 AM

glad to see Dead Kennedys on there :)

Meph1986 09-19-2009 10:23 AM

I've heard all but 5.

Zer0 09-19-2009 04:44 PM

That's a solid list of albums. I have around 20 of them i think.

jackhammer 09-19-2009 05:54 PM

On the flipside, 37 of those albums would be nowhere near my own personal 50 and let's be brutally honest. When was the last time you have sat down and heard 3ft High and Rising? It's an influential album definitely and I own it and like it but it's dated terribly unfortunately.

Rickenbacker 09-19-2009 07:18 PM

I listened to it a month ago and loved it. Sure, it's not "De La Soul is Dead" or "Buhloone Mindstate" but it's a quality album that's enigmatic enough to stick out in a sea of great late 80's hip hop. Potholes in My Lawn is just too good. Amazing piano sample in the chorus.

slimjim 09-20-2009 03:39 AM

very surprised the doors 'the doors' and la woman albums never got a mention, or strange days into the bargain. classic albums from a classic band.

anticipation 09-20-2009 07:57 AM

only got three.

I'm more surprised to see De La Soul on here, especially ranked higher than 36 Chambers.

It's certainly influential for sure but the recording techniques and use of sampling seems kinda tame these days. I never rated 'Is Dead' much but I never got around to hearing Buhloone Mindstate. I still have Grind Date on my HD but haven't got around to hearing it. Nice to see Animals so high. Fuck yes.

Mojo 09-23-2009 03:38 AM

There are a few surprises on there. I only have 29 of them but i've heard a few of the others.
