Default Im quiting my band, music owns!

Sorry bout my English!

Hi. We are a electropunk-rock band with 4 members that have been "producing" music for 6 years. Well actually its just me here now><

After hearing some 80-90 music tracks like prodigy Breathe, Mc hammers Cant touch this, and so on we were like "Hey dudes we make songs with the same quality, lets make a video about us picking toadstools in the forest and throwing them at peoples faces!"

Well, one of my friends suggested to take a look at the music that comes out today. Fine. I watched MTV. Lady Gaga over and over again, every freaking vid is about sex or something close to it and rap has never been so good like now. Screw MC hammer and those odd music videos coming out at 90s.

One of my friends (and my actually)s fav track is the Prodigy's Breathe. It totally catched us at the 90s when we were small and we are trying to make music in that style with odd lyrics and odd vids. And guess what. I youtubed Breathe. 2 million watchers. Youtubed Lady Gaga. Like 25+million watchers.

Im like screw this. Breathe actually made bands, which all sucked. Well Lady Gaga doesnt really make kids go like "Oh crap she owns lets make music like this" cause shes to good. I like many other people knows that Poker Face is 100000 times better than Roxettes listen to your heart!
No wounder she gets so many rewards. Take a look at MTV rewards. Every freaking piece of c.. i mean goldthings go to rappers singing about money and girls like Lady Gaga that sings so good that MJ is turning at his grave.

Go take a look at MTV. Music videos are just so good today! Almost every music video is unique! Look a girl thats half naked, look a girl trying to look hot to sell tracks and make fans! Kate Perry lol, her fans are really cool!

And sometimes you see music videos thats * up. Seriously this dude sings about homeless children and make a vid about war, thats crap dude!
Dont worry, they just come out like two times a week and are gone after 2 days.

Our band mixes up Sex Pistols with the Prodigy, its failing so hard. We made some tracks that people wont even laugh to. Trust me, two of our songs are so 90s. After seeing that Lady Gaga wins most rewards at MTV we lost hope.
Music is really great now. So many bands will be history, lady Gaga will be as legendary as the Beatles, trust me.

If i call 70s-90s music crap, i would call the music that comes out today dark matter.

i totally get your point about how (IMO) the prodigy are better than lady gaga, but lady gaga gets more views (correct me if ive read you wrong)
but i dont get the point of this thread in all honesty.
also i cannot agree on the fact lady gaga will be as legendary as the beatles.
next year (or in the next few years) there will more than likely be a new lady gaga, whos more weird, more extravagant, more everything. everyone thought britany spears was the best artist and now i listen to her music, and i dont think alot of it. same will happen with lady gaga as you said, music is really great now, so bands and solo artists are easily forgotten.

The main thing about being in a band is not what music you play or who you're influenced by but

1) Whether or not you ENJOY the music you write and play, and the processes of writing and playing together.

2) Whether you have an audience for your music or not.

3) Whether you're good buddies in the band.

Everything else is gravy.

You'll probably never get famous. Get over it - neither will I (probably).

If you're a composer, compose. If you're a player, play. If you're a loser, lose.

Sam...

Creating music isn't about the mass fame and stardom, nor is it about trying to out-play or out-sound any other group, as though you're in some sort of battle of the bands competition. If that's all music is to you, then you should definitely hang the gloves up and walk away.. because you'll never contribute anything meaningful to the music world and the people who live in it.

The music comes first. The notoriety may be a result of the music, but it's not the reason for the music.
Just don't think that even half the crap that's out there is a result of due process. A lot of it is the result of mass media marketing and piggy-backing off the previous garbage that people bought into and shelled out billions for. Most of the crap people are exposed to now days is nothing more than a commodity that's going to retread itself to change with the culture in order to keep people buying.

That's not what you should buy into.
Buy into yourself and your own creative ability. Make music you feel and love, and if anyone else ends up loving your music too, well that's just a bonus.

I would stop turning to the television in order to find inspirational music, if I were you.

Are you trying to use some screwed up type of reverse psychology or something?

Or am I misreading this?
