OK so after the war there was this genre called skiffle or something. Anyway that was sh*t and it didn`t really catch on so people listen to rock n roll instead.Anyway eventually some bands formed like the Beatles & The Rolling Stones and people thought they were rather groovy and that happened for the next 40 odd years all the way up till the Arctic Monkeys came along.

I'd actually like to know what the difference between shoegaze and britpop is because all I know is that I like a lot stuff that comes out of the UK.

There`s not really that much difference.

Shoegazing was just a form of trippy guitar pop , once that scene died out in late 92 bands like Lush , Boo Radleys , Ride & others from that scene just started making more pop orientated music , with what would be come to know as 'Britpop' .The rest of them faded into obscurity.
