The Second Annual Report (1977) by Throbbing Gristle is by the far one of the scariest albums I have ever listened to. I had actually listened to it the other night, and it triggered a very disturbing, horrific, and grotesque dream after I fell asleep.

Highly recommended. :)

Godflesh—"Almost Heaven (Helldub)"
The fact that this is the "helldub" of this song really is pretty appropriate. I've always thought that this track has a strong descent into the abyss kind of flavor to it.

This song is hella' creepy, for like historical reasons.

Quote:

The main riff is constructed with a harmonic progression including a diminished fifth.[2] This particular interval is often known as diabolus in musica,[3] for it has musical qualities which are often used to suggest Satanic connotations in Western music.[3][4][5] The song "Black Sabbath" was one of the earliest examples in heavy metal to make use of this interval,[3] and since then, the genre has made extensive use of diabolus in musica.[3][6]
