So I'm mostly talking about: Helter Skelter, Honey Pie, Why Don't We Do It In The Road, Ob-La-Di, and Piggies - I guess it's not surprising that people don't like them but those are some of the songs that made me appreciate the Beatles in the first place. Same goes for Blue Jay Way - it's one of my favorite things they did. Also, I like the Ringo songs - to me they're a nice break from the Lennon/McCartney machine.
Yeah, I can see what you mean. To be honest, there are probably very few Beatles songs that I actually dislike, so when I say I dislike them I mainly mean it in the context of other Beatles songs.

But the Ringo songs.... ugh. I think I'd be fine with Harrison being the break from Lennon McCartney, and Ringo just kind of.... drumming.

Well - yeah, the Harrison songs are excellent. I probably have a soft spot for the Ringo stuff just for the weirdness factor. If the Beatles didn't make weird music, I probably wouldn't have paid attention to any of their stuff.

I just noticed somebody named Run For Your Life - another favorite of mine.

"I Saw Her Standing There". The played-outness of it just brought it to the point where it annoyed the **** outta me. I'm not a big fan of their mop-top pop days anyway.

Well, I just think Lennon, McCartney, and Harrison did weird better than Ringo. Like, Ringo's weirdness resulted in this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgPqmRNjoTE

And Lennon's weirdness resulted in this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmSlwT1xzus

Also, I love Run For Your Life as well. As far as Beatles albums go, I think Rubber Soul is pretty underrated. I like it at least as much as Revolver.

Totally agree - it's just that Ringo offered something completely different. We have to leave the genius of Lennon out of this because, musically, I think he topped every one of the others by far.

I think a lot of Beatles fans recognize the greatness of Rubber Soul. I never knew it was underrated. I also like it better than Revolver - barely.

I think Lennon was musically the weakest. He just didn't have the same understanding of composition that Paul and George had. While a great lyricist and charismatic singer, unaided by a more knowledgeable musician, his compositions were often harmonically and melodically simple to the point of inspiring boredom.

Rubber Soul is easily my favorite Beatles album. It showcases them when they're just starting to get experimental but still a totally rocking pop band. It's truly the best of both worlds.

In that case I like simple John better then the more knowledgeable others. I find most of Lennon's solo music more interesting than almost all Beatles music

Yea - that's why I like it too.

John's solo career puts me to sleep. I think the only Beatle with a worthwhile solo career was George. Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1, Brainwashed, and All things Must Pass are all great albums, all of which have material on par with the best of Harrison's Beatles output. Neither Lennon or McCartney can claim that about ANY of their solo albums, nevermind three of them.

Excluding their early stuff, probably Piggies or What Goes On.

But I dunno how anyone could hate Blue Jay Way.
