You're right about that. Since I'm not trying to come up with my own top 100 in this thread I only focused on what they had and whether I agreed or not. But since you mention it, it is quite shocking not to see Modest Mouse's The Moon & Antarctica (though Rolling Stone would have likely picked Good News or the awful We Were Dead over it), and Tool's Lateralus. I'd love to see some Built to Spill but don't expect it from Rolling Stone, same goes for the others you mentioned who I don't follow enough to have an opinion on. Actually, I don't listen to Raconteurs but it seems they made quite an impact and that Rolling Stones would like them.

That list is bull****. I've only heard 5 of those albums, but any top 100 list that has The Strokes in the top 5 and doesn't have the word "worst" in the title is just trying to sell you something.

But then again, this is coming from a magazine that called Justin Timberlake "an edgy performer".

I don't think that MGMT belongs on any decade lists, much less Rolling Stone's. It was terrible terrible album in my opinion (the few times I could listen it through all the way) and nothing innovative. Big thumbs down to RS for placing it within the top 20.

Only 5 seriously? I would consider myself a relative non mainstream fan but I have heard 41 of those albums and own 22 of them

Still doesn't mean it's a good list though at all.

I own a bunch of those albums too. Arcade Fire, Killers, PJ Harvey Leonard Cohen to name a few but there's surely more then that. At least it's not a complete shit list. As far weather or not it could be better... well, that's just obvious.

Well... it wasn't as bad as I had expected. But... ahem... The Eminem Show? Why rank his least impressive album on there and not even include the Slim Shady LP?
