I've always loved music, but the band that really encouraged me to learn more about it and get into it even more was the Beatles.

i say mine is the beatles, because i have a five year old almanac and i looked up the beatles, and it said they were a really good band in their time and even today, so i got an album:LOVE
also, it helped we listened to a lot of pink floyd the summer before, so my favorite band now and then is the beatles. before that, we used to listen to a lot of train, particularly the song Drops of Jupiter

Although I rarely find myself listening to them anymore, Pink Floyd were an enormous catalyst for my transformation into a music junkie. I've since turned my back on the sacred cows of dad rock but I'll always appreciate them for spurning me into listening to music more. I still like a few of their recordings but I've somehow lost favor for the arena rock that people love clinging to.

I'd have to say probably Pink Floyd, growing up through the 70's my dad listened to them all the time, along with bands like AC/DC, Sabbath, Yes etc..
