Iron Maiden were the catalyst for me. I spent all of my pocket money acquiring their records as a socially awkward 14 year old. I rarely listen to them these days, but they still hold a special place in my heart.

Nine Inch Nails were my intro to music. Trent is still one of my favorite artists today.

The Cars/ Devo. Two of the better new wave acts to come out of the 70's. The Cars first two albums still sound fresh and incredible to date. Devo was one of those bands my mom and dad used to yell at me to turn off, what could be cooler then that. So of course i went out and bought every Devo album that ever came out and blared them so my neighbors could enjoy them also. I'm a giving guy.

I always enjoyed listening to music, even back when I was really young and my dad introduced me to some of his music. There was one band though that really made me appreciate music even more, and made me check out MANY other bands, and that was Dream Theater. I'm not the biggest fan anymore, but I can still appreciate a few of their albums.

Though I can't say I grew up with a family who was into music, I've loved it since I can remember. Since age two I knew I'd be singing my own songs one day for millions. I'm 19 now and can't say it's happened but hey, I'm still young. I remember loving Nirvana since I first heard them when I was ehh, 6? At age 14 when I watched their preformance of "Something In The Way" in NY, Unplugged, I was touched, from the very inside of my soul. I had never had a song make me feel that way ever before..and I still haven't to this day. I've been in the same conditions he sings of in that particular song. I've been there. Not only with just that song, but with his emotional and mental stuggles as well. Beyond you, or anybody can imagine..which is why I wont go into that, but it's a huge reason why I have always loved Kurt so very much. But Nirvana deffinetly allowed me to see the other side of music..beyond just the pleasing notes. They allowed me to see the emotion and passion a song can hold and they did just that with each of theirs.

A good record was almost reverenced in our house and my parents' old record collection is still nearly pristine.

Did anyone else have those globe lamps on top of the speakers that pulsated and changed colors to the music?
You mean a lava lamp?

Hard question.
Have to say that it was Iron Maiden and Kiss...

For me it was the "James Gang". Not a great band but hey had a sound like no other. They helped to define "Hard Rock"
