Maybe
some kind of post-punk comp
Noise Rock
Jazz
...would be appreciated.

The Abracadaver 01-19-2010 06:48 PM

I can do noise and post-punk sometime. I'm also working on a pop/punk one.

trouserjazz 01-19-2010 06:55 PM

Id love a stevie wonder comp seing as theirs rumours he is playing glasto.

He is a big gaping hole in my music collection and I like what I know.

Otis reading and Louis Armstrong would be others.

If anyone can reccomend any Metal bands similar to opeth id be happy to take a listen. The amount of Metal I listen to these days is dismal and id love someone to give me a fresh perspective on it.

lucifer_sam 01-19-2010 07:22 PM

Electronica, specifically trip-hop and more ambient elements of house music. No dubstep or dnb please.

Bulldog 01-20-2010 11:13 AM

It'd be cool if some kind soul could do a bebop and/or hard bop comp, as I need some more of that stuff.

Might be able to do an electronica comp. I'll have a think about a possible tracklisting soon.

I could do a Noise Rock comp. Urban would do a great Post Punk and maybe Satchmo with the Jazz comp.

Antonio 01-20-2010 03:57 PM

yeah, definately Satch for Jazz^

storymilo 01-20-2010 05:06 PM

I'll just agree with some others, post-punk would be great and jazz would be interesting because I actually have a relatively large amount of it due to my grandfather having a bunch of it, but I'm kind of stuck on where to start.

Electronica too I guess.

Bulldog 01-21-2010 10:28 AM

Just uploading a couple of electronic mixes as I type this. May or may not follow it up with an Aussie punk one...

jackhammer 01-23-2010 12:57 PM

Echo & The Bunnymen
Beastie Boys
The Specials:

I have all three brewing in my head if anyone wants.

Anyone up for doing Captain Beefheart? I have a couple of albums but would welcome a comp.

Too late - I've deleted my post and backed out!

I'll just upstage him with that Ausrock comp I was on about a few posts back ;) If I can ever be bothered with it obviously.

I'm listening to Laughing Clowns right now :thumb:

Stone Birds 01-24-2010 11:17 AM

Boduf Songs
Land of Talk
Belle & Sebastian (if one doesn't already exist)

FaSho 01-24-2010 12:29 PM

Anyone want:
Sufjan Stevens
Against Me!
Ben Folds
MF Doom

?

+81 01-24-2010 12:37 PM

I might take a Ben Folds if it was made.

Ones I was considering doing if anyone's interested:
Dinosaur Jr. (apparently done already but I couldn't find it)
Melvins
Beck
The Blood Brothers
John Frusciante
Refused

BTown 01-24-2010 12:53 PM

I'd be interested in Beck.

If anyone wants Nirvana or Mudhoney let me know.

Refused don't have too big of a discography, I'd say just listen to The Shape of Punk to Come and Songs to Fan the Flames of Discontent, in that order.

+81 01-24-2010 08:14 PM

That's basically why I didn't bother before, just thought I'd mention them. There are a few gems in the demo and ep comp though.

Those sound nice.

Dieselboy 01-25-2010 03:57 PM

I'd like to see one for black metal.

If you wouldn't mind, I would appreciate these. Thanks!

That's the spirit :D

Thanks a lot man, I've only got 4 or 5 bebop/hard-bop albums, so I'll be looking forward to your comp.

Good. I'm really looking forward to putting it together.

Engine 01-25-2010 07:13 PM

I'm looking forward to this as well.
It's some of my favourite Jazz and I'm interested to see what you pick.

mrguy 01-25-2010 07:15 PM

Sonic Youth
Smashing Pumpkins
Rage Against the Machine
Andrew Bird
Silversun Pickups

lucifer_sam 01-25-2010 07:20 PM

Is there a Sun Ra or Residents comp up yet? I've dabbled in both but due to the breadth of their discographies I really haven't poked too hard, I'd love to see something in that direction.

jayfin3 01-26-2010 05:35 PM

How about Joy Division? Everyone talks about them, but I haven't really been able to get into them.

Rickenbacker 01-26-2010 05:37 PM

I call doing Joy Division.

A beginners guide would probably include all their tracks officially laid down so if you don't dig this then Joy Division are not for you:

Oh, and
Arctic Monkeys
Art Brut
British Sea Power
The arcade fire.

Please :)

jayfin3 01-26-2010 07:19 PM

I'll do Arctic Monkeys if I ever have enough energy to make a compiliation

Should have it within the next couple of days. There's actually a lot of stuff that I would like to acquire for the mix.

trouserjazz 02-03-2010 11:20 AM

Seeing as it looks like Stevie Wonder will be playing Glastonbury does anyone fancy whipping up a comp.

I'm almost sure I will be seeing him but I only know very little.
