That isn't always a bad thing, I started out listening to Oasis, Noel Gallagher liked a lot from the 60s etc.
But then, a lot of people's musically ambition just finishes there.
I also think Nirvana fans seem to like bands from that area and genre, I remember seeing a documentary on Nirvana and there was an interview with 3 lads and they said Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam. That's all we listen to.
