This seems like a really random list. Where are all the bands with the truly annoying fans? Phish? Insane Clown Posse? The Grateful Dead? Jimmy Buffett?

Fans of The Fall tend to be annoying opinionated self righteous pricks.
And I can see that image fine. |
Led Zeppelin fans in particular tend to be the most annoying breed of classic rock elitists.

Tool fans can be really annoying, same with Radiohead. Lots of older Beatles fans can be even worse. Im not really seeing the point of this thread though. |
I voted The Beatles. Cause they're annoying fan-base is just too large, which increases its annoyance.
Though I'm familiar with an annoying Tool fanboy... Like whenever the word "music" is mentioned, he wakes up and asks "Hey, has any of you ever heard of Tool?" ... and thankfully he's met with silence, and everyone returns to what he was doing. I'm dreading the day he'll meet another Tool fan... I hope this day will never come. |
I get annoyed by Tool fans where alot of them seem to place Tool in their own league. They are unlike any other band, the most original band in the world and the level of musicianmanship is just untouchable. I like Tool on occasion but i think thats all a load of rubbish.

As said a couple posts ago, Fall fans can be really annoying and in a league of their own. Thankfully I am one of them ;)

Phish.... Everytime you enter a college classroom there is at least one or two of these guys, ranting about Phish. I always figured Phish was a stoner band but the few fans I have met I dont think have ever hit a bong.
Insane Clown Posse.... I have alot of friends who take them way to serious and only listen to music from there record label. Nothing else. The guys who only listen to local punk bands..... I got a couple friends who to guess its punk or something bands. They always say they hang out with this guy all the time. Like because they hang out with a guy a couple times his band and music is the best. I guess the rockband Fans as well... The guys who promote the one hit wonder bands until they realize nobody likes them, then move on to the next one hit wonder they can try to promote. |
All fanboys are annoying, no matter the band.

Although I hear Tool fans are bad I really haven't come accross one, can anyone elaborate?
Metallica fans are pretty bad along with Bob Marley fans. I don't think there's ever been a time where I was with a Bob Marley fan listening and they didn't end up mentioning how totally baked they got while they were listen to it. Around where I live there's a ****load of metalcore and pop-punk fans. Like new pop-punk and metalcore stufff like All Time Low and Underoath and god its annoying hearing them **** over the new atreyu album. Sublime fans can be annoying as well, it seems like pretty much any kind of stoner band can have annoying fans who absolutely have to let everyone know that they are hardcore potheads and they're sweet. |
Pantera.

i got the EVILEST look by suggesting that the band had been influenced by Led Zeppelin from one of the latter type of fans once hahaha. no no no, Tool is pure originality, there are no others that compare. they emerged fully formed from the sheer will of the Maynard, born of a vacuum, devoid of past influences, the epitome of heavy music, the only band that truly gets it. |
Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dream Theater, and John Mayer all have obnoxious, stupid fans. So annoying that everyone who plays music at my school is an acolyte of one or more of these people.
|
Nirvana-Kurt Cobain death cult is just thick. Same for Joy Division.
|
^
DINGDINGDING We have a winner. |
I'm willing to excuse Nirvana fans somewhat because the music is pretty good. I'm willing to excuse Joy Division fans entirely because the music is great. But annoying fans of annoying artists are just the worst.

Radiohead.
I like them, I don't really care for the superfluity of insipid morons who think sunlight shines from every crevice of Thom Yorke's lopsided face. I'd like to have an intellectual conversation with someone about music just once without being thrown the whole "OK Computer and Kid A are the best EVERRRRRRRRRRRRR" speech. And there's no point arguing with them about it when they're spoon fed from the anal drippings of the indie press. These kids haven't had an original thought in years. |
There are going to be annoying fans of everything. They are people who can't see past their favorites, are vocal about it, and will change eventually. Whether that means they'll go on to like more and more music, one can only hope. But the majority obviously aren't into music the same way us folks are and will forget all about Thom Cobain by the time they're 30. Arguing with them is a pointless exersize.

His point was that as active members of musicbanter are "into music" in a different way than the people who "can't see past their favorites", and as such, we won't forget about Thom Cobain. |
I think he means it's the ultimate unforgettable singer.
Though I would've gone for a more "super" name like "Thobain" or "Kurtork". |

I can see the Wikipedia entry now...
John Thom Lydon "The Notorious B.I.G." Cobain-Cage, better known by his stage name "G.G. GaGa Dirty Bastard Baby Jesus" was an American singer, songwriter and avid mushroom collector. He rose to fame after the release of his hit single "Never Gonna Give You Up", which would later become a popular internet meme. Often considered the "Mozart" of music, Thom Cobain was uncomfortable with his success and challenged his fanbase with the release of his debut album "Superficial". The hit singles from that album included "Thriller", "TiK-ToK", "I kissed a girl" and "Sexually Assault Me". His life ended tragically as he was murdered while commiting suicide in a run-away-bus with a lethal amount of LSD, Heroin, Shrooms and Painkillers in his system. |
Ah i see. I misunderstood his post when I first read it, so I assumed that you might have thought something similar. But Thom Cobain's a pretty cool guy.
|
Definitely Tool, Muse, Metallica, and Pantera. I'm sure I've already discussed with some of you annoying Tool fan. Also everyone on bass forums obsesses with sounding like Chirs Wolstenholm (Muse) and Justin Chancellor (Tool).
|
Hmmm... I would say that all fanatic and blind fans are annoying :( And the name of band is not so important.
|
Muse definitely merit a mention.
