Helplessness Blues is just as good as the debut, if not better - it's just the hype machine has died

I've got nothing against Fleet Foxes. I liked their debut, and Blue Ridge Mountains is an excellent song.

But the amount of disrespect for Bon Iver saddens me. There are few artists I will outright slander, and most of them so obvious it's pointless to do it.

That's kinda my point. Were you simply saying that he isn't as good as Fleet Foxes I'd agree :P Music doesn't need a melody or a tune in order to be music, and I respect the fact that you might simply not like it, but the fact that you don't like it doesn't instantly make it atrocious.

To be honest, the simple fact that he has achieved an award despite "looking like someone who would do my accounts" as someone so gracefully put it on that "who is bon iver" tumblr, speaks of a certain amount of talent. Neither does he seem to use any "gimmicks" in order to further his music in non-musical ways. If it were the kind of music that only a hipster could like, then it wouldn't have made it to the grammies because no self-respecting hipster would want their music soiled by publicity. It only leaves one option, which is that people actually like it for the music.

I'd say just about all of us here are.

Same for me. I don't enjoy Bon Iver's music personally. I don't have any of it anymore actually, but I can completely understand its appeal. I could never say anything bad about them just because I don't personally like the music.

I don't hate him, he just makes music. It's other people who hyped him up. And some of his fans are those fanboy kind of people.

I've heard only one Bon Iver song, and it's extremely boring. He falls into the category of "Weirdos loved by hipsters and music elitists."

Is she even putting an album out this year?
