Bands That Went On Far Too Long..
name some bands that should have called it quits albums ago. I mean, I'm not really a fan of the pistols, but that's a band that ended at the perfect time. Go out while you're on top, don't descend into mediocrity.
Aside from the obvious bands like the stones, a band that should have ended a long time ago imo is sonic youth. Should have broke up after dirty |
Not really a band, but he made far too many albums, some great, others... not so much. I'm still a fan though. I have an embarrassing subscription to his podcast, and love the music on it. I think he's cheesy and annoying, but I still love him. Oh, it's tiesto I'm on about btw...

U2 should have broken up after Rattle & Hum. They wouldn't recieve nearly as much hate if they had just called it quits then.

Weezer. In an ideal world, they would have ended on a good note with Pinkerton and spared themselves and my ears from the garbage that is their last five albums.

^ Is it really good I don't recognise them?

Metallica were vaguely interesting in the 80s, and considering the last 20 years of rubbish, they should have called it quits many years ago.

I agree with RHCP, Weezer, Metallica, Stones (obviously), don't care about the others then or now. There are tons of obvious ones not even worth mentioning. But some bands I like(d) that are on their way to (or have already reached) mediocrity and probably should have stopped an album or so ago (not including bands that reunited after long absences)...
Rise Against Pennywise Modest Mouse Cursive The Cure Genesis (probably nearly every prog band that went beyond the 70s, actually) KMFDM Ministry Revolting Cocks mewithoutYou Suicidal Tendencies Thursday |
