At the top end you have record companies more interested in profits and selling mass marketed music, at the bottom end any idiot can cheaply record an album and put it out over the net.

The good stuff is hidden somewhere in the middle.

That's what she said.

You're just jealous of my kvlt black metal project "Gas Guzzler" where I gargle the vocals with gasoline and play the guitar underwater with a pick made from fossil fuels found from the deepest pits of hell unearthed by the most sickly mutants you've ever seen. I've got two followers on soundcloud though, so I may have to cut the project as I'm getting too mainstream which goes against my ethics.

I'd illegally pirate that. Y'know, to prevent you from earning money on album sales and becoming commercial.

I miss 90's Mtv cause back then they had alot of shows for every popular genre at the time, if you liked Alternative you had shows like alternative nation or a 120 minutes where they did weird interviews like this one

If you liked Metal or harder rock you had the headbangers ball and if you liked Rap you had YO mtv raps.
For a puertorican kid like me who grew up just listening to local rap those old Mtv shows were the only exposure to good rock music, (well Mtv and a music channel called The Box..) back then i used to rely on mtv to show off good bands and variety within rock music but nowadays Mtv is the last place i look for to find new bands.
