I thought the original was by Billy Idol? Guess I was wrong.. I like Billy Idol's cover then :P And I'm from Thunder Bay, way up north.

Billy Idol was originally approached by the songwriters to record the song for the movie The Breakfast Club, but he turned down the offer, which later went to Simple Minds. Idol didn't record the song until 2001 as bonus material for his Greatest Hits album. The Simple Minds version immediately brings to mind Billy Idol's voice, So many people associate him with that song, when in reality most haven't heard him sing it.
