Best Band In Canada!
Of course the best band in Canada is Three Days Grace!!
With Adam Gontier – lead vocals / guitar Neil Sanderson – drums/piano/vocals Brad Walst – bass Barry Stock - guitar This band has been recording since 2003 with their first album titled 'Three Days Grace' Which included the hit songs 'I Hate Everything About You' 'Wake Up' and 'Home' later in 2006 they put out their second album 'One X' which was a very personal and dark album that included 'Pain' Animal I Have Become' 'Never Too Late' and 'Riot' and then finally September 2009 they released their third album 'Life Starts Now' With the 'Break' and 'The Good Life' this album is a bit lighter but still fantastic to listen to! Every song on every album appeals to some part of you, and each song, turned up loud, is amazing to listen to over and over. Be sure to check out their official site, fansite, and street team to find out more! |
I was going to delete this spam but as it fails on so many levels i'll leave it open for people to point & laugh.

Three Days Grace and Nickelback are embarrassments to this fine country. Best band in Canada? Hard to say but I like Rush and the Tragically Hip.
PS: If/when this thread is closed, can it be thrown in the thread graveyard for future lulz? Thanks :D |
Sum 41, anybody?

The only thing they have ever done that has had any significance to me is the riff in the first ten seconds of this song: |
^
I'm in too deep. of a song imo. Shite band though.. |

I'm no Sum 41 fan...but I can enjoy that song. :D I do like immature 90s skate punk though (even if these guys are an imitation of it). The slow part around 1:40 is lame though. |

Blue Rodeo gets my vote.

Rush gets my vote hands down. GY!BE is second though.

What, have we turned this into a best band in Canada thread?
Rush, then. |
Well here's a subject I excel in!
The Smalls - "Domination" Awesome hard rock band out of Edmonton that rocked its way through the '90's and first few years of the '00's. Unfortunately they've broken up. Darkest of the Hillside Thickets - "The Innsmouth Look" Vancouver natives who fuse punk rock sounds with tongue and cheek references to horror author H.P. Lovecraft. Still active and should be putting out an album sometime in the near future. WarsawpacK - "Attention to Deficit" A band I've introduced to a lot of members on this forum, a terrific blend of hip hop and funk with some smooth melodies and thought provoking lyrics. Disbanded however vocalist Lee Reed put out an EP in late '09 Barstool Prophets - "Robin's Song" A band that sadly never took off but had some really great melodies and songs. Sadly disbanded. Sweatshop Union - "Comes & Goes" A hip hop collective from Vancouver who've put out 4 albums, each building on what the last one put down. Their 2008 release Water Street is so far the pinnacle of their song writing abilities, specifically from the MC in this song, Kyprios. Alive and still kickin' baby. Strapping Young Lad - "Almost Again" Probably one of the best metal bands to come out of Canada. Each of the musicians brings something to the table, but the drumming of Gene Hoglan and the vocals and guitar work of Devin Townsend bring a whole new level of insanity to extreme metal. That said every one of the musicians from SYL has gone onto different side projects, all of which are worth a look. Disbanded. I could go on for a long time but I'm just going to leave it at this for right now. I'll admit Canada produces some of the most gut wrenching pathetic excuses for music, which get most of the attention of the outside world, but peel away rotting layer of filth and you find a vibrant and robust music scene all across the country. |
Whenever I think of "Canadian bands!," three groups leap to mind immediately.
|
Damn you guys making this thread all serious and shiz.

a few of my faves from back in the day, unfortunately one of my favourites went by the name Pure, make searching for songs like Anna, Denial, Lemonade, or Chocolate Bar more or less impossible. the album this came from was quite literally all over the place, spanish rap? check, a song about farts? check, old school spiderman theme? check, a tune about reservoir dogs? check, a king crimson cover to close it all? Red. good fun and a much better band name / single / album than anything the released after renaming themselves to finger eleven. esthero - if more pop stars followed her path maybe more than easily impressionable teenagers would pay legitimate attention to the mainstream. i was lucky enough to see her the summer this came out prior to splitting with her producer. anyone who's ever read any comment i've made about Canadian music should have know this band would be listed here. one of my favourite tracks from their entire catalog too bad there are only like 5 of their tracks on youtube. |
My personal favorite...

I've been meaning to check out Glueleg but trying to find a CD by them is next to impossible, at least for me. The guy who introduced me to The Gandharvas was the one who told me about them and also got me into some of the older stuff by The Tea Party.
Good call with Esthero, but the only album I really liked was Breath From Another, but it was a really ****ing good album. |
Canadian music begins and ends with Godspeed.
You know what? Scratch that. Canada begins and ends with Godspeed. |
But maple syrup...!

Can't we just go back to talking about bands like Three Days Grace, Nickelback, and Sum 41? :tramp: |

@Pete - i was actually thinking of old Tea Party when making my first choice of clips but found the Rainbow Butt Monkeys first haha give me a couple of days to dig through my crap to find my Glueleg discs and i'll hook something up. for now here's the classic opener to the Tea Party's 'Edge's of Twilight' album for those who've never heard it. i remember being in like grade 11 and my friend's telling me of this new band that sounded like Jim Morrison singing for Led Zep and i doubted them. i stopped doubting about 4 seconds in haha as for Esthero i totally agree 'Breath from Another' is a fantastic disc although i'm left to wonder how much of it was due to Doc's production and musicianship. i never actually managed to get her 2nd full length but i had the single for 'OG Bitch' and 'We are in need of a musical revolution', they aren't bad discs but lack that special something from her debut. although the EP features the closing track 'Amber and Tiger's Eye' which is reminiscent to her early stuff. unfortunately not on youtube... BUT i did find this most excellent clip showing her live potential. i was 10 when this song came out. i didn't quite get it then. but it's hard to not f*cking love it as you get older haha oh man, it links to the Northern Pikes hahaha i shouldn't go back that far. enjoy getting this unstuck from your head i like the album this is on (Glee) so much i've bought it twice. i still think it's a great track and there's just something about the brunette backup singer   |
