When it comes to a good band like The Beatles, I agree. We know there's something there and we want people to see and appreciate it, when it's something we like.

But otherwise, I have no problem dismissing a pop or "alternative rock" act from just hearing a few songs. If it's not my thing it's not my thing, and people are entitled to that. They'll come around to the truly great stuff eventually. If not, oh well.
