If you say it like that then he isn't...I still think he is.

I quite like Pete, I was a big fan of Libertines. They were one of the first bands I got into (along with Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Libertines and Strokes.) but a genius he is not. Why do you think he's a genius?

This might sound retarded but imo he is a genius at song writing with the Libertines, Babyshambles, even his solo..but of course it's my opinion.
btw they reunited so I'm stoked for that.

Yeah but why do you think he's a genius song writer with Babyshambles/solo? All I hear is bland boring songs (apart from some exceptions.)

6 years too late for the reunion but if Pete can stay sober enough for them to release a third album I'll definitely be getting it, even though it'll probably be crap.

He puts passion and emotion into his songs....and I don't hear boring bland songs. But I probably don't know what I'm talking about.

He put passion into the Libertines, after that he couldn't even be arsed to turn up to shows with the Babyshambles, so I don't imagine he'd put much passion into the song writing for the Babyshambles. But as long as you enjoy his work but I think he's way off being a genius. I hope him and Barat together again will spark something great, like in the good old days.. But I doubt it.

Same here..but it's good that he's back with them. I mean I liked Babyshambles but they weren't as good as the Libertines so I'm happy.

this guy stands as the most recent in my eyes.

Jaco Pastorius - born to a musician father, a drumming prodigy in his early days, a sports injury caused him to stop following his old man's footsteps so he switched to bass. he went on to worldwide fame with Weather Report, was an instructor at the University of Miami, established his own musical publishing label at a time when artists were still routinely getting screwed over by bad contracts. composed multiple albums worth of material. widely recognized as one of the absolute best electric bass players ever, and just as proficient on the piano and drums.

he was all but forgotten in his homeland by the time the 80s rolled around due to ongoing improperly handled mental health issues before being beat to death outside a club he used to play back in his early days at 35 years old.

the world lost a truly great one that day.
