Question Hi! Do you know any books on modern music analysis?

I like books and music very much and I was hoping to find a book that analyzes modern music like R&B and soul, as well as other genres. I know you guys may have come across such things, so any suggestions?

Hey yeah check out "Cultures of Popular Music" by Andy Bennett for a pretty excellent analysis of the call and response between culture, politics and music from the 60s to modern day.

Also Craig Werner's "A Change is Gonna Come" is the definitive book of African-American musical styles, and a truly compelling read.

Hope that helps
