TheCunningStunt 06-16-2010 08:29 PM

The idea is to put them in order, your favourite going to your least favourite. Even if it isn't totally accurate.

No. Because the top 5 one is top 5 of anything musically. Raging from albums to bands to rock star's moustaches to instruments.. This is a thread where members can make lists of their favourite albums from different years/decades/all time.

Come on, everyone here loves lists! :(

Yes, we should. But everyone will end up breaking it anyway.

clutnuckle 06-16-2010 09:15 PM

In my next list I'm going to alternate between the two formats just to see your heads simultaneously explode.

Alex/ 06-16-2010 09:21 PM

Albums are in italics, like they should be. That's how you can tell.

The long version of "Superunknown - Soundgarden" is "Superunknown, by Soundgarden". Makes sense to me.

I can tell, I just have a harder time reading lists in that format. Can't skim them as easily.

This.

My thread is for Anything.
ANYTHING
So you basically started this thread to add 5 extra albums which is pointless.
If you were really desperate you could have just posted it in my thread nobody's going to bitch just for a longer list.
****in dumb thread.

****in dumb thread.

It's not a dumb thread though. It's about people's favourite albums from different decades and years. Just that. If I posted it in yours, I might post a top 10 albums from the 90s, and ask others to do it. Then someone might just come in and do a top 5 about their favourite guitar brands or something - which is what YOUR thread is for. This thread is just for albums. Hardly dumb is it? Just an idea for people to put their favourite albums in a top 10 list. If a mod feels it's not a relevant thread, they can feel free to close it. But it was just an idea.

But it's not for a specific year.
So you can be just as easily interrupted in here.

Not really, I could post favourite albums from the 90s and then someone could post their favourite albums from the 00s. People can still comment on the lists and make lists of their own. Someone may do 1999 and then someone else might say that list is totally wrong, this is my list for 1999. It keeps it more specific to albums. I thought it'd be a nice idea and it's a challenge as well, to really think about your top 10 favourite albums for a year or decade. It just makes for a bit of fun listing, hardly dumb is it? Just another thread with lists of albums for fun.

But why do we need another thread just for lists? When we already have one?
If you're so desperate to find out peoples favourite 1999 albums start a thread just for that.
But another thread just for varying lists is dumb IMO.

Because I don't want to know people's favourite albums for 1999. I'm interested in people's favourite albums for any year/decade. Your thread would deviate from an album based discussion. It was just an idea I had and I thought it'd be a nice thread for people's opinions to get aired out. Maybe I should've done it just decades so but I didn't want to limit things. Plus it's nice knowing what your favourite albums for a whole decade/year is, it's a real challenge. Especially putting them in order.

RVCA 06-17-2010 01:02 AM

meh, forums are like shirts. you need new threads to make them complete

...is basically what I'm thinking.

I think I'm gonna leave this open. For starters, I'm far too tired to ponder this too much. I agree Jim's thread very similar, but I also agree that this provides a focus on albums, so it's not really a bad idea for a thread.

If another mod feels different and decides to close this, then fine, but that's my 2 cents.

Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde
King Crimson - In The Court of the Crimson King

Top 10 albums that I own but always wonder where they have come from since I don't like any of them and actually hate all of them:

1. Disturbed - Ten Thousand Fists
2. Dream Theater - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
3. Dimmu Borgir - Enthrone Darkness Triumphant
4. Mokoma - Mokoman 120 Päivää
5. CMX - Dinosaurus Stereophonicus
6. In Flames - Come Clarity
7. Dream Theater - Octavarium (more of this... where does this stuff come?)
8. Bullet For My Valentine - Scream Aim Fire
9. Ensiferum - Iron
10. Eluveitie - Slania

No offence if you like some/all of these albums but I despise every last one of them. Almost all of these have been bought in a "get 2 for the price of 1" situation and I have just picked something that I kinda like since it's free... boy I have been wrong with my choices when I look back now.

That's not the idea of this thread. This thread is for favourite albums from any chosen year/decade/all time. This belongs in top 5 of anything musically, you just need to half the list.
