You've already liked them they don't count.

clutnuckle 02-10-2010 04:20 PM

Sure they do. The thought of listening to them makes me cringe. I refuse to like them, even if I did at one point.

I hate Bob Dylan.

Don't ever say sorry for that. Idol is the bane of my existence as well.

Did you EVER like them? Yes you did. So they don't count according to the title of this thread. :p:

GNRdrummer 02-11-2010 07:34 PM

hmm...

My least favorite bands are probably Five Finger Death Punch and Bullet For My Valentine. I hate Five Finger Death Punch because it is just mindless screaming where you only catch 2 "words" before the song is over. Also, the de-tuned guitars sound like a bowl of Rice Krispies, as Dave Mustaine from Megadeth would put it.

I hate Bullet becuase it just sounds like absolute crap and should not be regarded as music. Go listen to some old school Metallica and GNR or something rather than wasting your time on these 2 bands. People today have better things to do.

Ahh. I saw ever as pertaining to the future and not necessarily the past.

the smiths / morrisey

with the exception of 'how soon is now?' i cannot stand the band no matter how much praise gets heaped upon them.

Ya that list would make me want to gouge my eyes out with a spoon. Good job.

I second the post above, add all the mainstream RnB artists, and we have a definitive refusal list.

sidewinder 02-12-2010 12:32 PM

Minus Nirvana...come on.

Yeah and the Beach Boys... I can see how they might be annoying but they're not bad like those other artists.

I get that all the time...but I really hate Cobain's voice...drives me up the wall.

But I know I'm in the minority.

Violent & Funky 02-12-2010 06:57 PM

I don't think I have ever not liked a band because of the singer's voice...

This.

How can they be anywhere near this list?!

Even if you think they're way overrated etc.
And Kurt's death helped the fame of the band

What they did was still good. :(

I actually love his voice, his and John Lennon's voices are two of the best in my eyes.

Bad vocals (or just vocals I personally don't care for) are grounds for immediate dismissal. Unless the band is 50% or more instrumental...then I can be forgiving. But vocals are generally too prominent to ignore, and if I don't like 'em, they can GTFO.

I think this is why Elvis Costello gets flack, cause his voice annoys some people.

Personally I like it but some people seem to hate it:(

musichuny21 02-13-2010 12:47 AM

Only ever hated 1 guys voice and thats chris martin out of coldplay, makes me cringe like f*** ... just makes me wana grab a razor blade.

Bulldog 02-13-2010 10:08 AM

All my picks for this thread have been mentioned about a gazillion times by a gazillion different people already, so listing them again would be boring as for all concerned.

Yeah, that's basically the complaint that's cropped up the most with him that I've heard. Same with a few other artists I love like Midnight Oil, Scritti Politti and so on. Obviously I've got nothing against them myself, but I can definitely see the angle all the naysayers are coming from.

Dr.Seussicide 02-13-2010 10:55 AM

I've come to the conclusion that I really dislike a majority of country music. I've really tried to get into some of them and actually perused Pete's entire Gothic Americana thread. Most of the stuff I just couldn't get into. Although this song did stand out to me immensely and I thoroughly enjoyed it:

However, for the most part I find myself unable to enjoy a majority of country.

Didn't he call Ray Charles the n-word someone called me rascist for liking him because of that.

Yep, James Brown too. So, yeah, the man's done a lot of stupid things in his life. Doesn't stop me liking his music as I do. Plus, being called a racist for liking someone who made a racist remark about 30 years ago and nothing similar since is a bit much really.

Yup, I've heard a song or two of his that I found atrocious due to his voice.

Fair enough, but do me a favour before giving up altogether. I'm making a Beginner's Guide to Alt. Country right now, it's just uploading and I will send it to you first. Listen to it and then make your decision, OK? It's a lengthy playlist of 30 songs and I'm confident you'll find something to your liking.
