Favourite live performances.
Whether it's Glastonbury, or Reading/Leeds.. we all have our favourite moments. Post videos of your favourite performances.. Or just performances you like. If this has been done, I apologise but search let me down.

I actually used to have a bootleg of this. Gold. |
Well, this thread didn't take off like I'd hoped. I wanted to watch a few live videos of people's favourite bands. You're all let downs. Apart from you James.
|
Watch those bottles fly  |
Why are they bottling them?! Ooh Stick You was a legendary 90s song. :(
|
I see your Dephne and Celeste, and I raise you..
|
Because I was there and it was amazing.... |
^
X2! Favourite/second favourite Blur song, the crowd singing along = mmmm. |

The best part is where they pretended that they liked being bottled |

Oh Devin, your rants against your audiences never fail to amuse me. On a more personal note, my most treasured festival memory was leaving Warped Tour in 2006. That moment was short lived though as I got on a bus with a very long route, surrounded by these little Warped Tour fuc*ers without my CD player, newspaper, book, magazine or any other device to distract me from their presence. |
Ive had a look for videos but there isnt really any. My favourite festival moments have included...
Iggy Pop inviting the crowd on stage to dance with the band when The Stooges played Download in 2004. Iron Maiden playing a set comprising of material from their first four records only at Leeds in 2005. Metallica playing Master of Puppets in its entirety at Download in 2006. MUSE at V2001, which was my first festival. I didnt like Showbiz but watching them live turned me. There were too many to mention at this years Download. |
Can a mod please do me a favour? And change the name of this thread to "Favourite live performances."
It covers all areas of live music then, not just festivals. Thanks. Since it's favourite live performances... Favourite Blur song, favourite Blur performance. |
I'm going to pollute this thread with this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UN8Bf8_3fw When I saw this I was in a standing area, and when the rhythm guitars kicked in and the drumming amped up, everyone started jumping up and down and getting really into it. It was quite awesome. They finished the set with One Step Closer, and the entire audience was yelling along to "shut up when I'm talking to you". So great this is a serious post |
Why lower the tone RVCA?

While I obviously didnt take this video, I was at Glastonbury that year and saw this live. The Verve were great, and it was an almighty performance :D |

I haven't been to very many festivals, but some of my favorite moments were seeing The Roots play their rendition of "Masters of War" at Bonnaroo 2007. And then of course Tool came on a couple of hours later (right when the acid started to take effect). And there was The Sounds of the Underground Festival in 2005. Something like 30 bands in one day, on one stage 11 A.M.-2 A.M. non stop. It was the first time I saw Opeth, back with Martin Lopez was still drumming for them, and then Clutch came on after them, and I saw Mikael Akerfeldt side stage with a beer, jamming to their set. Other highlights at that show were The Red Chord, SYL, GWAR and Lamb of God (before I got tired of them). Bonnaroo this year was rife with it's moments of grandeur as well. Tenacious D was ****ing awesome live. Isis and The Melvins back-to-back and then, later that night Clutch and GWAR back-to-back (and tripping again). One of the coolest things was after their set, GWAR came down into the middle of the festival, where there was this giant mushroom-shaped fountain. They knew everybody would be there after getting covered in GWAR juice. It was also nice, wandering away from their show, covered in red and green liquid, looking like zombies, with all of these rich rave kids wandering around, covered in glow sticks. |

Panic At The Disco don't deserve the bottling, they are pretty good tbh.
|
I cant stand them but ive seen bands be bottled about a hundred times. I've never seen anyone crumble like a piece of paper.
He took a dive! Get the bastard off. |

I go to a lot of shows but Karnivool are the best band live I've ever seen... I know that's a big call but it's 100% true. They always sound absolutely amazing in terms of actual sound quality and technical performance, but they put on a really emotive show every time as well.
|
Wow....
Im surprised those girls made it off of that stage alive... Im not surprised by the response of the crowd. Just crazy that stayed out and performed... |
Ten Feet Deep
TFD's one of the few bands that can cover both MJ and Allman Brothers. There are live versions of "Thriller" and "Whipping Post" up on YouTube, but I can't post the urls right now.. Check em out!

I can't post a video because I haven't posted 15 posts in the forum yet. But I would say Stairway to Heaven from The Song Remains the Same
|
|
Otep is awesome live, as is Lamb Of God.
|
gogol bordello was pretty sick live.
|
I've seen a group called baba zula a couple of times and they always put on a fantastic show, one of the more visually interesting and entertaining shows I've seen. The music is a mix of traditional turkish folk music, reggae, electronic and some other arabesque influences in there, so pretty eclectic to say the least. They always have live belly dancers on stage and a graphic artist who draws images on a computer screen which are projected live onto one wall. All together it's really cool to see.

PWEI - Octoberish 1992 Cambridge Corn Exchange brilliant gig
|
YouTube - The Pixies This monkeys gone to heaven live @ The Troxy 3 June 2010
YouTube - Flaming Lips - Do you realize?. - Glastonbury 2010 Because I was there for both, and they were beyond special. Quality isn't great for either one but it's the best I could find. YouTube - Interpol - Roland Live @ Les Eurockéennes De Belfort 2005 Because I'd give anything to have been there. Although I've seen them perform that song now anyway, this just blows my mind. YouTube - Placebo - Narcoleptic (Olympia 2000) - [16/20]. As above, although I've not yet seen this song live and I probably never will. I'd be lying if I said this doesn't kill me on the inside. |
Of Montreal at Terminal 5 - September 2009. Amazing
