Now this is where we differ a little from the other threads, PM me up to three of your favourite cover songs and once I have enough, I will randomise the songs and we will run this like a championship type thing. Semi finals, quarter finals, etc...

Right, this has been open for over a week now. I have 16 submissions so that is enough for a wee competition. Here's the first match.

I don't really like The Cars very much, and I've been over Iggy Pop for years, so my vote shall go to Big Black.

For me, it has to be Funtime.
The Kraftwerk cover had little difference from the original other than it had been a low-fi recording.
The Cars cover wasn't necessarily great either but in my opinion was the better of the two.

The Big Black one manages to spice up the original and add something to it, while the Cars' one does nothing.

The Big Black cover is good, but I don't think in general Kraftwerk's music makes for good song covers. The Cars cover of Funtime is great though and even Iggy Pop was quoted as saying, that Benjamin Orr sounded more like Iggy Pop than he did on this song

I prefer the Big Black...I nominate it myself and I think it's a really interesting take on the song. I am not into Kraftwerk much and it still stands out as one of the highlights on Songs About ****ing.

This really isn't much of a fight for me. The Cars' sound just so hollow and flat to me. And, if you're covering Kraftwerk and going a very good job, you win in my book.
