Chris Bell - You and Your Sister

A nearly perfect song. It's amazingly beautiful too. I think the 'Country' version is even better, but I can't seem to find that one on Youtube.

Tom Waits - Closing Time

This is, in my opinion, the most beautiful instrumental ever recorded. It's perfectly arranged.

I appreciate this song very much, too. When it comes to Waits, though, there are so many more songs from him that move me much deeper than this one.

I agree, but this one was the first one that came to my mind. 'Anywhere I Lay My Head' is great too.

I prefer the original.

The lyrics are beautiful by the way.

bungalow 08-15-2010 03:25 PM

the original is indeed beautiful, but would probably not provoke tears for the many here who do not speak french. i prefer some of jacks' phrasing as well. for example--"goodbye papa, it's hard to die, when all the birds are singing in the sky" is a bit more poetic than brel's "adieu l'emile je vais mourir, c'est dur de mourir au printemps, tu sais"

Burning Down 08-15-2010 03:26 PM

I know it's an orchestral piece, but Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings is a very emotional piece to me. It was my grandmother's favourite piece.

I also know two people who died in the 9/11 attacks so the video is very emotional for me as well.

Also, Nessun Dorma from Giacomo Puccini's Turandot. Pavarotti was one of my grandmother's favourite singers and he sings this piece beautifully.

Wings For Marie -Tool

Shine on You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd

Everybody Hurts by REM

Exit Music (for a film) by Radiohead

I love these songs and there probably the ones that tug @ my heart the most....if any song can provoke a tear its one of these songs.
