[QUOTE=DoctorSoft;1158783]I dug that, it was catchy. Good lyrics as well. 7/10

Glad you liked it. Nick Cave is a strange dude. You're right, the lyrics are outstanding. The LP is entitled Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!!:) I won't rant on the symbolism, but, people just don't understand how poignant and prophetically profound messages are found everywhere in prose. And, it certainly is an issue of the planets and the stars. A specific 'morning star' to be precise.

As for the song you posted. I have a question. Is the music and back round singing the 'hip' or the 'hop'?:) I listened, but, the rap was not that lyrically strong, in my opinion. I do have a respect for Emimem. I don't much care for rap, but, he is an intelligent man. He had issues that were somewhat morbid, but, he struck me as a deep thinker. Eight Mile was a profound effort, and, I do respect him. I don't like Lady Ga Ga, but, I give her props as well. It's the Justin Beibers of music that really annoy me:)

Keep throwing them out. I'll listen, and, eventually will hear one I like.:)

One last comment. The words on the grocery store, and the hat....I don't get it. I don't know where you are from, but, I grew up with several black friends. My Dad wouldn't let them in the house. He used that word, as, most of my family did, and, it sickened me. I don't understand why they refer to each other as that word. I don't care how it's spelled, it rings the same tune. As a cracker, I'm appalled:) I just don't get it. I want people to see this poem. It is from an African Shakespeare. I don't remember where I picked it up, but, it is interesting. Then, I will throw some more blues out.

poem written by an African Shakespeare

Dear white fella,

Couple things you should know
When I born, I black
When I grow up, I black
When I go in sun, I black
When I cold, I black
When I scared, I black
When I sick, I black
And when I die, I still black.

You white fella
When you born, you pink
When you grow up, you white
When you go in sun, you red
When you cold, you blue
When you scared, you yellow
When you sick, you green
And when you die, you gray.
And you have the nerve to call me Colored??

Ironic, if anything:) And, True.

peace dude

Pro tip - don't paste the entire youtube url between the tags, you only need the bit at the end (whatever comes after the = sign in the link)

As for your clip, hip hop with a worthwhile message without being preachy and rocking harder than the average rock tune. Hard to hate but some of the production tricks date the track a bit so... 9/10

And now a Canadian classic haha

What was that comment about 'basic'? I don't care much for Korn. I can't digest it:)

Let me take us back to when it was less basic three-cord riffs, and, synthesizers. I'm thinking.........but, I'm lazy, so, I'll just grab one.

There's less basic. And, an actual organ. Not a synthesized xylophone switch.

Does a synthesizer have a harmonica?

Not the most lyrically profound band. There's better ones. Ritchie Blackmore could well strum and pick. I'll think of more, if we want to steer away from three cord riffs. I was on a newer blues kick, and, I usually pick with the prose in mind.

Picking, not speed riffs. Any metal must be on par with early Metallica:). And, I'm not crazy about them, but, someone could play. I just knows Lars somebody got all pis*y when Napster was the pirate ship of choice. And, you had a 14k modem, and, dial-up.

That should be a thread. How powerful was your first computer? 8gig ram, 896mb hard drive, 75mhz processor, and it only cost $2000! Printer not included. Or, modem. I think it was 8k, and, 100 bucks. How far have they come in a mere 68 years. In 1944, the mark I. 50ft long, and 8ft high.

This is interesting, but, :offtopic:

I don't give a crap. This is a great observation I found on wiki.

"Had the automobile developed at a pace (equal) to that of the computer during the past twenty years, today a Rolls Royce would cost less than $3.00, get 3 million miles to the gallon, deliver enough power to drive (the ship) the Queen Elizabeth II, and six of them would fit on the head of a pin!"

And, human beings are growing larger. Does that not seem odd?

Don't reply. I am going to start that thread. I want to hear what the forum thinks.

And, there are no limits to what can be posted. Who the hell am I to set any rules:) I wasn't actually serious. I just don't want to hear it:)

What a blankey blank! Fill it in.

Good song as well. Actually, Child in Time is one of the better riffs Ritchie put together. I was saving it, but, since we are on the subject of great guitar riffs.....this has a short middle riff that is pure. It would be a great prose, but, they doubled up on the stanza. They should have lit another joint or two, and, come up with better:)

I will think of something that slays completely. Someone will anyway:)

I also agree with the lack of music. I got the sense I was in an open mic beatnik bar:)

Blar. I like Cage the Elephant. The second effort was not as strong, and, it was just okay. So, I didn't keep it. It's good. 7/10, but, their first one was better for the most part. Here's my favorite.

While bullets shower the earth
We turn our heads and cover our faces
Now flames devour the sky
And i hear these words in the back of my Mind

Chorus:
Here we stand at this fork in the road
We got no time to waste
Oh which way shall we go?
This old world's spinning out of control
Oh which way shall we go?
Which way shall we go?
I can't believe this, it makes me sick

Fresh smell of death on your tongue
You bait the hook and here come the children
Another grave stone to sell
While you get rich in the valley of hell

(Chorus)

The devil's creeping
He's got us eating from his dirty hands
We feast on lies
Which makes it hard for us to make a stand
Out in the desert
there's a forest full of fallen trees
It's what they want
but it's not what we need

Screaming at the ceiling
doesn't make it better
Slipped into a coma
lost my favorite sweater
Ask them no more questions
you'll never catch them lying
it's time to make our move
and strike them right between the eyes
