A few days ago I went into a club just to use the bathroom and heard this

Later I found out that this song is really popular in Serbian clubs, and if you want to hang out with the "cool crowd" you have to listen to this on a regular basis...

s_k 12-11-2010 05:52 PM

Music exactly like that, but with English Lyrics, was really popular here about 10 years ago. It's awful...

FaSho 12-11-2010 06:02 PM

I've heard it so much I'm starting to like it. :shycouch:

Dayvan Cowboy 12-11-2010 06:04 PM

i've tried that with some of the songs my friends like - it's kind of like stockhom syndrome but with songs..

Dayvan Cowboy 12-11-2010 06:48 PM

here's another force fed gem:

Back when I like Tegan and Sara and Hot Hot Heat, I was determined to bet the only 11 year old indie kid around. So, this Gunslingers Anonymous band sent me a spam request. Because I was eleven, I thought they ACTUALLY wanted to be my friend. Well, I listened to one of their songs, and it was a good, catchy indie rock/alternative grunge-y sound. I instantly fell in love with it, and I was so happy. Well, My friend recently dug this up. I was so overjoyed to see my fellow Gunslingers Anonymous finally hitting it big, and BAM.

want to know what happened? they went all electro-pop on me. THEY WERE SO GOOD AND HAD SO MUCH POTENTIAL AND THEY RUINED IT! And now my friend is convinced that they're the best thing since sliced cheese and I will hear no end to this. It's almost bad as Mr. Meeble's Never Trust The Chinese., ffs. This band ruined themselves :(

s_k 12-11-2010 06:49 PM

Well I rather slice my cheese myself eitherway.
This is utter crap... Sorry for you :(

khfreek 12-11-2010 08:24 PM

I am force-fed metalcore by my friends most often. Shit like Asking Alexandria, For Today, A Skylit Drive... so bad. I've tried weening them off into other genres but to no avail.

zachsd 12-12-2010 02:37 AM

A few years ago I used to think Tom Waits was awful. My sister always played him in the car though and I inevitably changed my ways. Thank god she didn't listen to Meat Loaf or something.

DoctorSoft 12-12-2010 10:47 AM

Around 2 years ago this used to be my friend's favourite song, and he would have to play it anytime I was listening to music. I woulkd try and show him some of my music but I'd play Sunny Day Real Estate or something and he'd say, "What the **** is this, it's just crappy noise!".

Arya Stark 12-12-2010 12:11 PM

This is a really interesting concept, I think. Pushing your music views upon others. I've had so much music pushed on me, it's not even funny.

Katy Perry's "California Girls"

There's no, "Oh but it has a good beat" here. it just sucks. And so does "Fireworks" for the most part.

Any Mike Posner songs. He's ****ing annoying. I don't like him. His voice isn't that good. And it sounds like he has a speech impediment. But for some reason, everybody is ALWAYS trying to get me to listen to him.

Any Taio Cruz songs. "I throw my hands up in the air sometimes. Sayin-" Shut up.

Taylor Swift. My suite loves her. And I don't know how I feel about her, but I know I don't want to be told to youtube her songs when they all sound the ****ing same.

Honestly, though, being force-fed sucks, even if you like the music. I hate anyone's views being forced upon me but I have to say music bothers me more.

This is something I don't usually talk about, and if I read it over, it probably won't sound very intelligently written, but I'm sure you all know generally what I mean.

Janszoon 12-12-2010 01:02 PM

It's been a long time since I've had anyone force music on me but I did used share an office with a guy who listened to Wilco every fucking day.

storymilo 12-12-2010 01:35 PM

One of my friends listens almost exclusively to dubstep and stuff like Dave Matthews and John Mayer. And while he never tries to force it down my throat (thank god), it really annoys me hearing him talk about music. Either he's talking about all the great dubstep he's been listening to (when honestly he only knows maybe 10 different acts) or he's trying to fit in with other people by saying he likes the same music as them, even when I know he doesn't listen to it.

I think it's all well and good that he likes dubstep and whatnot, if that's what makes him happy. It just really turns my crank to hear him pretending he knows about music.

s_k 12-12-2010 07:07 PM

I try to avoid supermarkets because of the music they play there.
Mainly Duets (blegh) and stuff like Christina Aguilera. Why can't the stupid bint keep one ****ing tone straight... Damn I hate this awful screaming, let me out of here, let me out, aargh!
Something like that.
Problem is, I can't exclude any sound I hear. I hear every ****ing thing.
When we watch TV and my rather deaf father hears everything, I can't hear a thing because of the gas running in the kitchen. I **** you not.

Ska Lagos Jew Sun Ra 12-13-2010 10:56 PM

I used to work in a department store that would play mostly top 40s ****. 8 hours a day. Every single time that "1234" by the Plain White Ts came on, I wanted to strangle myself(That song is worse than castration...).

Seltzer 12-13-2010 11:54 PM

High school was a bad buzz for me in this respect... a lot of my friends listened to Disturbed, Slipknot, Nightwish and Killswitch Engage. At least they also listened to Tool (and Opeth, given some coercion).

Nowadays, this isn't such a problem for me... as long as I overlook the fact that some of my good uni friends are hardcore Bon Jovi and Dream Theater fans

Some people like shoving whatever band they like down your throat and you're pretending to like them because you don't want to hurt his or her feelings.

Currently, I'm having this AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL ATROCIOUS song pushed down my esophagus.

UGHUGHUUUUULARGHH SO BAD

My fav current pop-punk band's last show Nashville got cancelled, and they finally rescheduled for March. They're opening for this band...

someonecompletelyrandom 12-16-2010 02:26 PM

Most of my female friends have a fair respectable taste in music, or they don't act like know-it-alls if they only listen to a few artists. My male friends, however

I don't know what it is about me that makes easy friends with these machismo type people. Maybe it's because I hardly judge folks on anything until I hear their taste in music, and by then it's often too late. Examples of what a lot of my male friends around my age are into

Other of my friends who are bit older and more mature (and slightly hipsterish) like better music. It's often stuff I can't get into like Animal Collective, Miike Snow, etc. but it's a refreshing conversation compared to all this sexist rawwwk.

I hate it when people here post about an hours worth in youtube videos of their favourite band in every post.

Unless it's a review that interests me or in the mini-review thread I never click them. Especially when people post them in the shoutbox or no apparent reason.

Can't say I have. When i have nothing to listen to I sometimes Spotify posted songs, but Youtube is so crap. I'd rather just download the album tbh, it's quicker.

Batty 12-16-2010 04:09 PM

My son has come to hate Marillion in a big way as both my wife and I play them quite a bit, but the Ozzy Osbourne and Skyhooks seems to have struck a chord in him as he plays them quite a bit.

CanwllCorfe 12-16-2010 05:18 PM

A couple of times I've been forced to listen to songs that my friend's girlfriend loves. Once she heard I don't like pop music, she thought she would prove me wrong by hearing a few GOOD pop songs. Yeah, alright. She had me listen to them and pointed out her favorite lines because they were "deep" and spoke to her. Yuup. Paramore and Pink ARE pretty deep I guess.

Come on man. What could be deeper than "That's what you get when you let your heart win?"
