hipsters is just like the emo kids, the grunge scene, and all these little scenes before it, its gonna be a phase

now given I support them more than the emo culture because well....at least their listening to more broad music but honestly i hate any of these sub-cultures which I'm sure I somehow fall into one of em given that everyone has to have one through their own choice or not

I agree with JackPat its more like being elitist because of music or movies or whatever

once these people learn to grow up and realize that conformity isn't some 1984 big brother bull**** its called growing up and trying to get by in this world where there is no such thing as being unique and theres no such thing as being a conformist

we are all on a journey to the grave, so why all these little clicks of people? if this just stayed in high school or maybe part of collage than i wouldn't rant but I'm seeing 30 year old hipsters and as a 17 year old kid I have to facepalm at how ridiculous it is to see someone not going to work just because they believe it will reduce their carbon footprint or some other nonsense

theres my 2 cents, not really well organized but whatever

I don't know about there, but here hipsters are quite annoying. I don't really care what they do or what they like or how they dress, but stop looking at me like I'm a weirdo just cause I know the bands you like and I go dancing or wherever you are and still I don't look as if I've just walked down from some Andy Warhol-wanna -be fashion show!
I mean, I know I'm a weirdo, but you're in no right of making it so obvious

There will always be criticisms. In the Dhammapada, it states that the "silent, moderate, and loquacious" are criticized. I am criticized all the time and I am not much of a talker. You just need to accept this fact.

I've just read the description of a hipster in the first posting of this thread.
Seems like I don't know any? Could that be true?

I know, but it's still annoying.
Btw, Dhammapada, cool! Are you into Buddhism?

I am a Theravada Buddhist. So, yes. It's against one of the ten precepts for a Buddhist (or at least a Buddhist in monastery life) to enter into the realm of music. So... I'm a hypocrite (but then again, I'm not a monk).

Theravada, that's the oldest school isn't it? I'm not buddhist but I enjoy reading about it, and I've heard quite a lot since I started doing yoga as my professors are buddhists.
I have read that about music being against it before, but why is it?
